| Raised as a Catholic, Hansen attended Catholic school. Always a devotee of prayer, his "focus," even as a child, was on "helping others" and "tuning in to the will of God." |
| An extremely sensitive child, he was always able to "read" the feelings of others but did not realize this was a "gift" until recent years when it dramatically "awakened" following the emergence of a spirit guide into his daily life. |
| While in his early teens, Hansen began to study Martial Arts, Yoga, Meditation, and Eastern philosophies, eventually making four pilgrimages to Japan that included training at a Zen Center. |
| Hansen has earned many "degrees" in his lifetime, including a 7th Degree Black Belt in Ju Jitsu and membership in the Martial Arts Hall of Fame, as well as a degree in Elementary Education. |
| He spent 20 years as an athletic coach for the Town of Hempstead on Long Island and then founded his own martial arts school, The Silent Flute Self Defense Center, in 1973. |
| A Martial Arts competitor and Master teacher for 38 years now, he has been named National Instructor of the Year three times. |
| The father of four children, including an autistic child, he is still a practicing Catholic but with an expanded "Eastern" perspective that he has integrated into his spiritual life of "meditation, faith, and prayer." |
| His "focus" is still "helping others," particularly children. Through martial arts, he has worked with many physically-challenged youngsters, and raised funds for such charities as Ronald McDonald House by spearheading projects like the Martial Arts Spectacular. |
