The Best Habits Of Excellent Leaders
You know you need zero title to show up at leadership - both within your work and at your home. I've been in the trenches - developing Leaders Without Titles within organizations - for nearly 15 years. Here are some of the personal habits I've seen the best of the best model: 1. They ask brilliant questions. 2. They are fit like athletes (as I mentioned on Twitter the other day "Your #1 business asset is your health".) 3. They are direct/clear/authentic communicators 4. They read (The best leaders have the biggest libraries! Read to Win).

10 THINGS AUTHENTIC LEADERS DO
What would your life look like if you had absolutely no fear? What kinds of things would you do if you lived from a frame of reference that your thoughts literally could form your world? How brightly would your light shine if you stepped out of the limitations that are keeping you small and stretched yourself well past your comfort zone into the place that you know, deep within, you are meant to be? Authentic leadership is all about being the person you know in your heart you have always been destined to be. Authentic leadership does not come from your title or from the size of your paycheck.

Favorite Quotes & Thoughts from Robin Sharma
• The smallest of actions is always better than the noblest of intentions.
• To arrive at a place called Mastery, you must commit to daily and rigorous practice. Enjoy practicing your craft for its own sake without turning your attention to your ultimate destination. Understand, once and for all, that the journey is as important as the destination.
• The deeper your relationship with others, the more effective will be your leadership. People will not follow you if they do not trust you, and before someone will lend you a hand, you must first touch their heart.
• Mastery in work and in life is about committing yourself to being excellent in everything you do, no matter how small and no matter if no one is watching. Do you practice excellence in your most private moments?
• The first fifteen minutes of your day should be spent planning your day. Set specific goals as to what you will accomplish. These clear goals will give you focal points on which you can govern your actions and provide your with a template you can live your day from.
• I promise you this: at the end of your days, you will discover that the things you now perceive to be the big things in your life will be seen as little things, and all those things that you now believe to be the little things, you will realize were really the big things.

How to get started
Robin Sharma has developed a reputation for his knowledge on leadership and spirituality. Part of his success is tied into the success of his best-selling book, The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari, and this is where I recommend that you begin. The book is a modern day fable that uses the life of a high-profile, high-powered, and highly stressed atto ey to convey spiritual truths and wisdom to readers.
The book opens up with Julian Mantle, one of the “country’s most distinguished trial lawyers,” having an apparent heart attack. The near-fatal heart attack forces Julian to confront many of life’s big questions. On his quest to find the secrets of true happiness, he undertakes an odyssey that leads him to the Himalayan sages, where he begins to discover the secrets.
I found a quote in Time magazine that I think nicely sums up the nature of The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari. Michelle Yeoh of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon says, “The book is about finding out what is truly important to your real spiritual self rather than being inundated with material possessions.”
After reading this work from Robin Sharma, I also recommend that you continue with his follow-up book, Leadership Wisdom from The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari. The sequel details eight practical lessons that leaders and managers can apply to instill trust and commitment into their organizations.
