Robyn Wheeler lived for over 40 years with an undiagnosed disorder called Dysthymia. After a severe depression set in and thought of suicide took over, Robyn sought out counseling. But the anger management classes and private therapy still do not rid Robyn on her ongoing chronic anger. In October 2010, Robyn decided to go to a Psychiatrist and was diagnosed with Dysthymic Disorder. With a daily dose of anti-depressants, Robyns life, attitude and outlook on life changed for the better. You can follow Robyn's story of depression, anger and self-loathing by reading her newly published book Born Mad.

Robyn Wheeler is now an author and public speaker on depression, anger and Dysthymic Disorder. She is dedicated to creating awareness to this seldom-talked about mood disorder hoping to create a support group and a national day of awareness as well as a charity to financially assist other who may not be able to afford psychiatric help.

Ridding yourself of anger may sound easy to some people however it takes a lot more than reading a book or taking a class to truly live anger-free. No one can do it for you, so one mustn’t look outside themselves for solutions but search within instead. The biggest problem is that anger is a vicious cycle. Let me explain. If an individual is angry, odds are that person does not want to try anything new. They blame others for things that are their own fault and believe they know all they need to know. If you suffer from any form of depression you have two choices. One, you can ask for help from a professional or two, you can live with depression hoping no one will notice and it won't affect your life much. The statistics are staggering. Over 40% of women do not seek help for depression due to embarrassment. Over 50% of men with depression do not seek help due to fear of appearing weak. I believe that dysthymic disorder is under diagnosed and misdiagnosed. Others may suffer from this disorder however, they are unaware it even exists. I am open to any suggestions on how to bring this disorder out in the open. Please contact me if you would like to help or need someone to speak about mental illness.
