I enjoy helping people navigate the sometimes troubled waters of life. Whether you're looking for self-help, affirmations, motivation on inspiration to take your life to the next level, I hope you find what you need through my websites and books.

I have a Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) and am a Certified MBTI practitioner. I currently provide individual and group counseling in the Virginia area and life coaching worldwide. My primary modalities are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I believe that if you can change the way you think, you can change your life! Also, if you put in the work - and are willing to experience both the beneficial and difficult process of healing - therapy can work for you. My guiding philosophy is that in all things we have a choice and I see it as my mission to help my clients discover the best choices for
themselves from within.

Though you're tired and it's been a long week and you just don't see where you'll get the strength, remember this: You Are Strong Enough. The other day, I went to work feeling exhausted. I had done too much, had tried to meet too many obligations, and just felt like I had just over-extended myself. So I went in to work to tackle what absolutely HAD to be done before I could go home, get some rest and restore my energy. One of those tasks was to retrieve a 500 copy duplicating project I had sent to our duplicating center.

No matter what you're going through: Don't let it affect your core..... There is a special, sacred part of you that exists on the inside. It is the part of you which gives you your self-worth. It's where you draw your strength. It's the part of you that believes in you and your dreams no matter what. It's where your soul resides. It's the part of you that no one should EVER be allowed to touch. It is your core. That part of you should be protected from anybody or anything that seeks to harm it. No matter what is said, what is done, or what is currently going on -

How do great speakers become great? How do Olympic athletes get so good at what they do? Practice, practice, practice of course. But there's one, often overlooked factor - they learn by doing. It's important to prepare for the big events in your life. Say, for example, you are asked to give the key-note speech at charity dinner. You've worked in the charity arena for years - you are great at fund-raising, are on hand to meet and greet potential donors at the big events and can cold call with the best of them. But give a speech?

All you have is now. That’s important to remember. All you really have is right now. Tomorrow is not promised and yesterday is a far-away dream. A dream because you cannot reach it, touch it or taste it. It only exists in your memory. And, until we find a way of traveling back to the past, that’s all it will ever be – a dream. Why do so many of us fail to realize all we have is right now? Because it’s easier to live in the past or our futures take so much of our planning time. The past is seductive because it is filled with memories of a younger, more hopeful you.

Favorite Quotes & Thoughts from Sonya Triggs-Wharton

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. - Marianne Williamson
