Will Sugar and Refined Carbs Shorten Your Life?
For many people, the answer is yes! We have such a proliferation of sugary foods, refined-carbs and sweet beverages that sugar consumption has skyrocketed! The annual US average is around 150 pounds (that’s pounds) per year. That’s the weight of an entire person each year!

Weight Gain and Aging: Fact or Myth?
Although many adults think extra weight comes with age, it’s a myth that getting older automatically means you’ll gain extra pounds, feel less energetic or be less active! Here’s why: Many adults notice that they are starting to slow down around age 40, due to gradual changes in metabolism and hormones. These changes are slow, leaving ample time to adjust. Even the loss of muscle is only about 1% per year when people become less active. These gradual changes result in a slow decrease in our ability to burn calories, so more calories can be stored as fat.

Lifestyle and Disease: Cause and Effect?
I bet you’ve heard of the following conditions and diseases: high blood pressure, high LDL cholesterol and triglycerides, heart disease/atherosclerosis, stroke, overweight/obesity, metabolic syndrome, type-2 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammation, cancer, plus wrinkles, ED and more! And when these conditions and diseases turn up, I often hear people bring up their family history/genetics, normal aging, or both.
