I was a manicurist back in the day when the only manicurist that people knew was Madge, in the Palmolive commercials. A time when getting a manicure was a real sophisticated
experience. Hairdressers, until the introduction of artificial nails did manicures. Artificial nails came to my part of the world, (Southeaste
United States) in the late 70's.
In 1981 I earned my Cosmetology license and unlike most hairdressers, I decided that specializing in nails was more to my liking. So, I opted to set down with my head hung over a table. At that time, most states did not require ANY kind of licensing. But, as a cosmetologist, I was covered. In fact, every one in our nails only salon worked under my license while they went to school to become licensed manicurist. We were the first ones in our town to offer artificial nails and people loved them. They were so new that there were no specialized products or
equipment to perform the service, so we improvised. The first product was actually the same thing that was used to make dentures. It didn't matter to customers that it was hard as a rock, took forever, smelled to high heaven and cost a lot. It was like globbing on an extension of concrete and then trying to file it into something that we could put polish on.
They were thrilled. We've come a long way and I have seen a lot of changes. Great changes, in products, sanitation and license requirements.
I sold my salon after 21 years at the table and went to work for one my customers who sold nail care products. Perfect!. After 4 years, I bought a division of the company. Now I work from home.. I feel that it is a great match for my personalities and my situation as a professional and a parent. It's as much a life style as it is a job. I am able to balance home and work and still use my skills from my previous career. We specialize in quality nail care products and sell them through phone orders and our website. Unlike many other online stores we are available and have the knowledge to tell you how the product should be used and why. I am currently working to add articles to our mailing list, and to our website, while always searching for new products to add to our line. We are excited about adding innovative products that I found lacking while working to solve my customers’ problems.
Be good to your nails.

The Whole Truth About Artificial Nails
Most people these days only know about artificial nails through seeing or visiting one of the nail salons that are in EVERY strip mall, in every city, big and small. They know that it’s cheap, fast and that it stinks in there. Nine out of ten people that walked into my salon were so thrilled to hear English. Not only because it is hard to communicate your desired service in a non English speaking salon, but that they feel like the nail technicians are talking about them.

How is Cuticle Oil like Teak Oil on a boat?
Prepare your nails for Winter: The cold air out side and the heated air inside are tough on our nails. I like to compare the nail to a wood board. You know a piece of timber. It is made of layers that react to the elements that it is exposed to. If you leave an unpainted board out in the rain and sun, then it begins to absorb water, dehydrates, then warps, splinters and weakens. Once the board is damaged there is no way to repair it, it must be replace. On the other hand, if it were painted or protected by various products like, sealer, stain, wax, oil or whatr
