Efficiency in Martial Arts Training
I wanted to discuss efficiency in our martial arts training. By this I am not referring to economy of motion which is efficiency of movement. Think of this as “Efficiency of Training“. Economy of Motion is a very important topic and one that deserves it’s own independent discussion. Efficiency in training challenges us to constantly refine and revisit all aspects of our training methodology. We must look at curriculum, the strategies of our instruction and training, and its approach to combat. It challenges us to streamline our approach and thinking.

Awareness 2 Levels Concentration & Mindfulness
Within our martial arts training and even sports training the term mindful may have come up. Anyone with any level of experience knows that the mental aspect is a critical piece in our development to self mastery. In the end we are all seeking to master ourselves both physically and mentally. There are two related mental practices that on the surface appear to be the same. However if you look a bit deeper you may realize that they are very different. These two practices are mindfulness and concentration. Both are critical to your development and essential to self mastery.

Translating Force in Jeet Kune Do Techniques
When studying Jeet Kune Do techniques and the principles behind their development it’s important to understand the goal of our training. One of the greatest gifts I believe Sifu Ted Wong has given us is the understanding of what we are trying to perfect and why. When you look at the principles behind the Jeet Kune Do techniques and it’s applications they are remarkably simple in nature, and yet it might very well be this principle that gives us our greatest challenge.
