At age 15, Dr. Zen-Jay (aka Cheng-Chieh Chuang, MD) found himself living in Argentina, half a world away from his hometown in Taiwan. The vast oceans that separated the two cultures ignited in him the quest for universal approaches and secrets to achieve health and happiness. Dr. Zen-Jay knew he would find these answers through his world travels and explorations.
Years later, as an award-winning physician, Dr. Zen-Jay has used the best of both East and West along with Traditional and Modern healing practices to help tens of thousands of his patients. He now wants to do the same for you, by helping you achieve a vibrant, joyful, and healthy life, no matter what your age.
Board certified in family medicine, Dr. Zen-Jay earned his medical degree from Yale School of Medicine and a Bachelor of Science degree with honors from Brown University. The American Board of Family Medicine honored him with the prestigious Pisacano Award in 1993, recognizing him as a leader in primary care.
Before founding Lakeside Family Practice in 2002 in Raynham, Massachusetts, Dr. Zen-Jay practiced medicine throughout the United States for years in rural and urban areas. He has cared for people of diverse cultural, ethnic, and economic backgrounds. His writing has been published in medical textbooks and jou als. Dr. Zen-Jay has led many workshops on the subjects of health and happiness. A chapter in an English textbook From Reading to Writing 1, features his life story.
In addition to his private practice, Dr. Zen-Jay teaches clinical medicine at Brown Medical School. He directed the cutting-edge course, “Art and Medicine” at Brown, showing students how their own creativity can enrich their personal and professional lives.
Dr. Zen-Jay is fluent in four languages — Chinese, Taiwanese, Spanish, and English. In his spare time, he enjoys being with his family, friends and an ever energetic rescue dog named Cosmos. Dr. Zen-Jay takes great pleasure in watercolor painting, photography, gardening, and several indoor and outdoor sports.
