Spring is a time for renewal and fresh beginnings. People come out of hibe
ation from the long winter months to enjoy the outdoors and fresh air. Many people plant seeds in their garden and spruce up the inside of their homes by throwing out old things and replacing them with fresh new items.
Now is a great time to do a little spring-cleaning in your relationship as well! Over time, hanging onto emotional baggage from past fights and hurts fills our relationship with emotional baggage and a heaviness that doesn’t allow for positivity and loving feelings to spring forth.
Below are 3 easy tips for cleaning out the toxicity in your relationship.
1. Spice up your relationship, including your sex life, by adding a little variety into what you do as a couple. It is so easy to fall into a rut – creating boredom and a lack of excitement. Get rid of the old habits so you can create space for new activities in your relationship.
2. Review your priorities. Take an inventory of what you choose to spend your time on, as both an individual and a couple - and make sure you are spending enough time together doing things you both enjoy.
3. Let things go! If you are having the same old argument over and over again, and it involves a trivial manner, respectfully agree to disagree and then let it go. Holding onto these arguments that you know will only drive a wedge between you and your spouse, creating ill will along the way, serves absolutely no purpose. So just let it go!
Taking inventory of your relationship and throwing out anything that is toxic and/or doesn’t add value to it - is a great way to enter spring with your partner – and watch the love spring forth!
