Everybody knows troubling times. What troubles one, might not trouble another, but one thing is certain - everybody's troubled by something. Understanding who you are and aligning yourself with the challenges that life presents is key to surviving all troubled times. If you'll develop the following mindset, it will help you to get through whatever is troubling you.nn1. Expect that when you feel that you are at the end of your rope, your rope will extend, but probably NOT as you'd hoped. Let's face it, things don't always workout as you hope or plan. When they don't it can be a scary and discouraging space, but not necessarily a bad space to be in. For many, it is only in this space that they will stretch to learn something new, seek out help, work certain mental and emotional muscles and really learn what it means to flow with what life throws. All kinds of wonderful personal characteristics can be developed in this space. The more you adapt this thinking, the quicker you'll begin to realize that as long as you don't give up, your rope never really ends.nn2. Decide to be a student of life - Life never fails to attempt to prepare you for WHAT IS to come. There are lessons that we choose to learn and there are lessons that life decides to teach. When you decide to be a student of life you'll develop the mindset to flow with whatever life throws. It's easy to go to school and then out into the "real world" and apply what you've learned. Many have done that exceptionally well; earned degrees and lots of money, but other areas of life for them are not as successful. Becoming a student of life means that you choose to learn and grow (to flow) with whatever life throws; intentionally yielding, mentally and emotionally, to WHAT IS. As a scholar of life you'll come to value life's lessons, mastering the ability to flow with its challenges and to be refined because of them; employing resilience and never resisting - WHAT IS.nn3. Develop the skills to live in the now, relentlessly.n Realize that you are not WHAT IS happening. In fact, WHAT IS happening is not happening to you; it's just life happening, even though you are being affected by WHAT IS happening. Developing the capacity to flow with circumstances rather than to resist them is a gift that you give to yourself. Resistance always makes it harder to accept WHAT IS. It defers the inevitable and impedes your progress. When life presents lessons, you have a choice...to embrace the challenge and practice flexibility which produces resilience or to remain rigid and resistant to WHAT IS in your life. Life's lessons are intended to transform you; to teach you more about you and to guide you in being a better you, if you'll let it. Developing resilience will cause you to thrive regardless of what's going on around you.
