Since my arrival to Chinaï¼my rich-in-fat Canadian blood has been the victim of unrequited love affair from the Chinese mosquitoes. They seem to have singled me out to fulfill their destiny of surviving on the blood of their victims in general and mine in particular.

Of course, I have no intention of deterring them from accomplishing their mission in life. However, I am confused about the reasons that prompted them to select me as their first source of blood.

I must acquire the courage to admit that I am overweight with a blood rich in cholesterol but am I the only one in my neighborhood?

It seems that my fellow Chinese began to acquire the foreigners’ bad habit of referring to junk food to satisfy their taste buds with delicious yet unhealthy food, which led some of them to become a little chubby. You may ask about the relevance between that and the topic at hand.

Having other individuals who share my attribute of being overweight led me to think about the reasons that gear mosquitoes to prefer my blood to theirs. Could it be that my blood is too sweet from all the sugar that I consume on a daily basis?

Regardless of the reasons, I have to confess that I am frustrated by my inability to convince them to look for alte
ative source for their meals. I bought all the chemicals that guaranteed success in getting rid of them or at least keep them away from my blood but they seem to be futile in accomplishing that mission.

Night after night, I fought losing battles with them. As soon as I went to sleep, they appeared from nowhere and started buzzing in celebration of their prospective feast of my meal of poor Sava’s blood. When I opened the light, they vanished. I spent most of my nights playing hide and seek with them.

Finally, my logic and wisdom led me to believe that they are too smart for me. By no means, I can defeat them. Therefore, I had to come to terms with the fact that both they and I need to coexist on sharing my blood.

I hesitantly, gave them my permission to use my blood as a tool of survival. Certainly, they did not need it. They usually, help themselves when they have the opportunity to feast on my blood. I just hope that they would be gentle enough not to be too greedy to suck all of my blood.

My love for China helped me to withstand the minor irritation of dealing with the hungry for my blood mosquitoes. Patience my heart, for the summer will come to an end and the annoying mosquitoes will vanish into oblivion.

I hope that my dilemma brought a smile to help you to bear the heat and humidity of our temperamental climate. I hope that you would not let minor inconveniences spoil your zest for life.
