The symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder affect approximately two to three million in the United States. While ADHD is often referred to as a childhood disorder, it also affects adults and while up to 50% grow out of ADHD as they enter adulthood, many continue to have serious symptoms as adults. Natural remedies for ADHD have helped many who had serious symptoms of the disorder. While some natural remedies are clearly commercial attempts at selling supplements, a non-pharmaceutical, non-supplemental method of treating ADHD has proven to be effective. Some of the methods involved in treating ADHD naturally can be found in the, Overcoming ADHD Without Medication: A Parent and Educator's Guidebook, written by public school educators. Simple Ideas for Overcoming ADHD Naturally: 1. Cut back on media time. Try to spend as little time as possible watching television or playing video games. Cut out "action" movies and fastpaced cartoons. 2. Replace screen-time with art lessons or time drawing, coloring, or in the case of adults or teens, engaging in the creation of artworks. It is soothing to the mind, calming, and many who have the symptoms of ADHD are highly visual. The artwork fulfills the need for visual stimulation in a gentle way that facilitates a calmer, less hyperactive and more-focused mind. See Art for ADHD 3. Listen to soothing rather than stimulating music. Mental-overload is probably part of the reason some have difficulty concentrating. Listening to soothing music rather than music that is overstimulating or aggressive can help many to be better able to focus. These are a few of many practical ideas that can help you or your child overcome ADHD without a prescription. Footnote: ADHD refers to attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and is the official DSM-IV label for this disorder. ADD refers to attention deficit disorder, the same disorder, without hyperactivity, but is categorized along with ADHD, as a slightly different form of the disorder.

"Raw Foods" is a popular phrase these days that is often misunderstood, yet represents a powerful, grass roots health movement. Some people shun the idea, not knowing what it means. Others embrace the idea, not knowing what it means. And that's no wonder, since there are many different interpretations of what it means to be on a raw food diet.
