I just attended a dinner of a womens group I belong to: BTW - Big Thinking Women. The speaker last night was Dr. Susan Love, foremost almost a celebrity in breast cancer research. She is just terrific and energetic and creative and determined to learn things we do not yet know…like how the chemistry of breast milk impacts cancer…what the ducts are really composed of…osteoporosis…and all kinds of things.
In order for her to know more, she needs us to volunteer to be part of various study groups, test groups, clinical studies and things like that. So her foundation has created Army of Women, www.ArmyOfWomen.org
Go there. Sign up. You'll receive emails occasionally, and, if you are asked to participate in any number of studies, then you'll have the opportunity to say yes or no. This is a large pool of various women of various ethnicities, ages, nationalities who have volunteered to help The Cause.
This is one of the first times every that women will be studying women. She already has 250,000 volunteers from all over the world. She really wants 1,000,000.
Here is what their letter of invitation says:
The Love/Avon Army of Women offers women the opportunity to partner with the scientists who are conducting research that will end this disease--once and for all. Breast cancer has been around for decades, but it does not have to be our future. We can be the generation that stops breast cancer once and for all by figuring out what causes this disease and how to prevent it! Sign up for your sister, mother, daughter, granddaughter, best friend, and the woman you met last week. This is YOUR chance to be part of the research that will end breast cancer. It takes a just a minute to join. But the impact we will have will last a lifetime. Please Join Me in Being One in a Million!
So do it!! Spread the word. Initially, Susan obtained these numbers from a huge press initiative. Now, the press has moved on and it's up to us to spread the word virally.
