Anti aging medicine is the fastest growing branch of medicine today. In short, it is about maximizing the human capabilities. Here are 5 foods that help:

1.Cheese. This is a surprising choice as many people do not always recognize the health benefits of cheese, yet alone the anti-aging effects. According to experts such as Matt Messina of the ADA, cheese is an excellent source of calcium which strengthens the teeth and bones as well as lower the levels of bacteria in the mouth. Common recommendations are 2 servings per week.

2. Grapes and grape juice. Grapes are well known as a protector of the heart and heart attacks, along with protection from stroke. Dislike the sagging skin? Grapes and grape juice can improve the skin tonus and elacticity due to the presence of the antioxidant polyphenols.

3. Sweet potatoes. With Thanksgiving just complete and Christmas and the holidays upcoming, this one works out rather well. Why?

Overexposure to the sun is considered the primary reason for premature aging. Sweet potatoes help to fight sun damage. European researchers found that pigments from beta-carotene rich foods -- particularly sweet potatoes -- can build up your skin, helping to prevent problems from UV rays. 4. Spinach and beans. Researchers in Australia and Sweden studies the diets of 500 men and women in their senior years. The conclusion was that those who ate the most green leafy veggies and beans had the fewest wrinkles. Why? Greens are full of compounds that prevent and repair the wear and tear on the skin that can occur over time.

5. Sunflower seeds. Another unusual choice but effective nonetheless. Sunflower seeds have the highest Vitamin E content of any known food. E as many of our readers know, is one of the most effective anti-aging vitamins around. No antioxidant is more effective for fighting free- radicals. Staying hydrated, regular exercise, specific nutrition and foods such as the aforementioned provide a solid foundation for reaching your body's maximum potential.

We are adapted to survive mild exposures to radiation. After all, the sun is a kind of controlled nuclear bomb and it releases a lot of radiation. Of course, this radiation, and man-made radiation, can also cause cancer and a host of short- and long-term health problems.

"Raw Foods" is a popular phrase these days that is often misunderstood, yet represents a powerful, grass roots health movement. Some people shun the idea, not knowing what it means. Others embrace the idea, not knowing what it means. And that's no wonder, since there are many different interpretations of what it means to be on a raw food diet. Personally, I advocate a plant-based raw food diet. In other words, I suggest eating green leafy vegetables, sea vegetables, other vegetables, nuts, seeds, sprouted seeds, and fruit.
