Are you Sassy?

Merriam Webster's dictionary gives the following for a definition:

1. :impudent
2. vigorous, lively
3. distinctively smart and stylish

How perfect an example as the kind of life that we as woman should be? Yet how many of us can really claim that sort of boldness? I am sad to say that I am not as "sassy" as I'd like to be a lot of the time. Why? That is a really good question isn't? Perhaps it is about perception, I looked up the same word at dictionary.com and the Old Word Dictionary gives a different definition: informal ( US ) insolent, impertinent Wow, that doesn't sound nearly as as good does it? So why do you think that the attitude toward being sassy is so bad? Perhaps that boldness and strong spirit that women have can be seen as intimidating or that we are the big "B". Makes me wonder why a woman is looked at like a "B" if she demands respect, what about you? I spent a lot of time feeling guilty if I acted selfish cause that meant I was putting myself ahead of others and at what cost? I grew up seeing my mother put everyone else a head of what she wanted or hoped for. I have heard that saying about the sins of the parents more times tha I can count, as I am sure that you have too, and I always felt that it was referring to some sort of "evil", but I have come to believe that these "sins" are anything that causes generation after generation of both men and women who carry on with the false belief. Women are not the only ones who can have this problem, but in my experience we are "better at it". So growing up seeing my mother be that way caused me to believe that what other people wanted, especially those that I was closest to and loved, was more important than the things that I wanted. Time after time, I would make decisions based on what other people wanted or even expected of me instead of making decisions for myself. I ended up sacrificing myself on the "alter of love" only to find that what I got in return was not worth the price, myself. It is my hope that you will realize that it is okay to love yourself and to take care of the things that you want and hope for without fear of recrimination. Fabulously yours,
