The words we choose to describe ourselves, others, and situations give us hints about what’s working and/or not working in our lives. Or, what’s in harmony and alignment, or in disharmony and out of sync.
Some are subtle like a whisper in a gentle wind and others are booming loudly like a wrecking ball on a construction site.
The question is, "Are You Tuned In or Tuned Out?
It’s like a foreign language, so to speak. In time we begin to pick it up little by little or we attend classes, listen to demos, or read translations to speed up the process.
If you start paying attention to your vocabulary, especially the inner dialogues, there will be clues.
Begin by becoming aware of the words you choose during the course of your day. Are you using ones like stressed, overworked, overwhelmed, tired, anxious, sad, or excited, looking forward to, thrilled, peaceful, joyous, etc,.
When you think about your partner, children, parents, friends, or your home or work, your health and happiness, what are some of your thoughts?
When you talk about something that is occurring for you right now, how do you describe it?
How are the words you choose translating in your life?
An exercise you can try is to write a couple of paragraphs about your self and your life. Things that you enjoy or don’t enjoy about your life, what you like or dislike about you, others, your home, work, etc,. Trust whatever you feel drawn to write about.
Then take three different coloured highlighters; choose one colour for positive words, one for negative, and one for words you used more than once, whether they are encouraging or discouraging.
Unde
eath your paragraphs write down the words you highlighted. Then, throughout your day and week, begin to recognize how often you use these words through exte
al and internal dialogues. It might surprise you just how frequently they come up.
Once you become more aware of them you can make some choices as to are they keepers or sleepers.
Keepers are the words that are working well in your life. The ones you feel are connected to and are tuned into the universal wisdom.
Sleepers are words you need to shine the light on. The ones that seem to keep you stuck, down, anxious, sad, angry, etc,. These are the just as important, if not more so, because there is an opportunity to wake up from the sleepwalk you might be in.
Instead of tuning out the sleepers and being clueless, tune in and become clued in by seeing how your words are translating in your life.
All our words give us clues. Are you allowing them to show you ways to grow, learn and expand or are you ignoring their reminders and messages?
Remember, it’s up to you whether you are tuned in or tuned out about them; the choice is yours.
