So how long have you been in your 9 to 5 job? Do you like it? Is it really what you want to be doing with your life?

If the answer is no, maybe it’s time for a drastic change? If you think that sounds impossible due to your mortgage, kids, new car, holidays you want to take etc. etc.! We are here to tell you that it really is possible!

I used to think that a change was impossible too, I would get on the tubes and trains every morning, usually freezing to go to my job in London (which I hated!) and look at all the people that surrounded me, wondering why I was there. One day it struck me, I don’t have to do this! Nobody does…. All it takes is a little courage and a plan and you will be able to get yourself out of there!

If you are feeling low and not sure why, if you are feeling unhappy with your life as it is and cannot figure out why, it might be time to take a closer look at you and decide if you need to get out of the rat race!

Here are 5 signs that you are definitely ready to make that change in your life now!

1. Your job is no longer enjoyable – You dread going into work every day and your job is no longer enjoyable as it once was.

2. You are feeling completely demotivated – Trawling through emails and dealing with customer queries may once have provided you with enjoyment and happiness, but not anymore

3. You are not feeling well – You may just feel tired, or you may be suffering with more bugs and colds than usual, whatever it is, it is probably directly related to how you feel about how your life is at the moment.

4. You have a shorter temper – You may have started to react to things that you normally wouldn’t. If things are getting to you quicker, and you feel constantly frustrated, it may be time to make that change!

5. You feel that others are getting all the opportunities – Once you have fallen into this rut, you will begin to have low self-worth, you know you are good at what you do, but everyone else seems to be getting all the opportunities! Maybe it’s time to re-think what you want now.

All of the above are tell-tale signs that you are pretty much finished with the rat race and that it is now time to start making plans for your future. Although this sounds scary, if you sit down and really think about what you want to achieve, you will probably already know what you want, you just never realised it!

Are you having a hard time finding your passion? Many of my career coaching clients wrestle with this. It was hard for me too. This month though I discovered a new way for my career coaching clients to find their passion. Although the circumstances are not what I would wish for anyone, everyone has tough times at some time in their lives so this might work for you too. My mother who is 96 came down with bronchitis at the end of September. Two days after the doctor had diagnosed her she got worse so I called an ambulance to take her to the hospital.

Tips for finding a job in 2010 The job market is shaky. Since the recession began in December 2007, the economy has lost approximately 1.4 million jobs. The traditional job search strategy of sending out résumés, attending large job fairs, often ends up going nowhere when there are more than 14 million unemployed individuals and only 2.5 million jobs to fill according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. You may think it’s impossible to find a job in today. Not so! Now is the very best time to move forward with force, while your competition is moving slowly.

When was the last time you asked a client for feedback about your services and how your office staff works as a team? You might turn up some useful information by doing a client feedback session when their work is complete. I recently had an experience with a hospital that is an example of how frustrating a poorly working team can be. I wish they had asked for feedback!
