There is a saying in life, I do not know who wrote it, and I do can search it online but that will drain away the fun of anonymity. It starts like this ‘No one can discriminate your character unless you want it to be discriminated’.
Character assassination is a concept that most of us go through our school life, university life or work life. The fact is that no one can change that and remember this; everyone in this world has been characterized assassinated once in his life. So, just remember, it is NO BIG DEAL.
Now, coming back to the topic, there are ways in which we can avoid that character assassination. It does not have to be always a win situation for the assassin. In addition, the best way to do it is by, not giving the assassin chance of assassination.
1. Don’t care so much:
First, let me get this straight. We all have our bad days in life. It does not mean we have to remain careful and alert all the time so that the mistakes we did once are not repeated again. Some of you may defy me (go ahead, it’s your right). But I have also heard ‘once is a mistake twice is a choice’. However, it does not fit in all places (like every other thing). So, give yourself a break when you feel that you are fed up.
2. Do not miss deadlines:
A pure chance, I will say again, you are providing your boss and counterparts a pure chance of character assassination by missing a deadline. Do not miss the deadline. However, you are not God, and you can mistakenly miss, however, try not to.
3. Be on time for meet ups!
Another chance… it is just like the above one. The more chances you give the more assassinations you will face, better safe than sorry. As said earlier try to keep with the pace. Give fewer chances and face less regrets.
4. Know your limits – mostly, when in group:
Most people are discriminated, just because they are loud mouths. Know your limits in a group; remember when to shut your mouth and when to speak. As it is said, ‘a wise man only speaks when he deems it important’.
5. Know your rights:
In the end, it’s all about awareness, the more you know the less you will be assassinated. Another thing is, the more knowledge you have the more influence you will have over others.
