We all want to be more attractive, and that usually means healthier and fitter - so we embark on weight loss and fitness programs. Fat will be burned by the body when you burn more calories than you consume, so if you still have excess fat, you're going to have to keep on exercising to burn it off. Another goal of your exercise will be to build some lean muscle mass. Added muscle mass means that the body will be working harder to maintain that muscle, which means more calories burned - and more fat burned. You'll look better and better as you continue your exercise program, working your new muscle groups, toning them and enhancing your body's appearance.
Don't let your body get used to your exercises - change them around periodically. The most important thing, though is to have an exercise regime that you can actually stick to.. Don't try to go to the gym 5 days a week if you know you won't be able to keep it up. Set realistic goals for yourself. Now's the time for establishing patterns and setting good habits, not challenging yourself with excessive goals - if 2 or 3 times a week is more your speed, do it.
Food - Your Line of Defense
Whenever you're pursuing an exercise routine or a weight loss regimen, it's absolutely essential that your nutritional intake is sufficient for the added work you're doing. Fruits and vegetables should comprise the vast majority of your diet. The fiber and vitamins they contain will contribute to your overall health by flushing out your body's toxins, and will also promote skin elasticity.
Also, beware phony "health foods." These are foods that are advertised as being good for you, but actually aren't. There's a nutrition label on the side of the package - take the time to read it. If you see a lot of sugar or high fructose corn syrup, don't get it, this stuff is essentially poison that is no good for you. There are many food companies that will slap an "all natural" label on it. Don't let that fool you, everything you see is made out of natural substances, including plastic. Plastic is made out of natural ingredients but is it really healthy for the earth? No, it isn't. Don't let the "made with natural ingredients" label trick you into thinking what you're purchasing is healthy. Take the time to read the ingredients on the package.
You should also drink a good amount of water throughout the day. Water is great for washing the toxins out of your body. Plus, when you don't drink enough water, your body becomes dehydrated. A body in dehydration reacts by going into "starvation mode," which is an emergency survival response. Burning muscle cells for energy because they take more energy than fat to maintain, a body in starvation mode will store every bit of fat as it possibly can. You know it's good for you, but did you know how bad for you it is if you don't drink enough water? While you're trying to build up muscle and get rid of fat and flab, if you're not drinking enough water, your body is burning muscle cells and storing more fat!
It's not hard to get a trim, toned body without any unsightly flab - just adopt and stick to a plan of regular exercise, and eat a healthy, well-balanced diet. Of course, once the fats gone, you may still have areas where your skin sags - these areas will need additional work to firm up the skin and tone the underlying muscles. Drinking plenty of water will significantly help increase your desired results.
