Relationship Advice: What Causes Relationship Problems?

Perhaps you've heard of other relationship advice that tells you to work on your sex life or communication skills to improve your relationship. Those relationship advice work to a certain extent but it gets much deeper than that.

The biggest contributing factor to relationship problems is stress. When stress comes into the picture, negative emotions form inside of you and your partner, causing your interactions with one another to be less than satisfying and positive.

Perhaps you've had days when you've taken out your stress on your partner. Stress from work, school or taking care of the children can cause you to unintentionally snap at your partner. Some people cope with stress differently. These people use distractions to help “numb” out their emotions. Unfortunately, they also accidentally numb out their loved ones as well. When this happen on a daily basis, your relationship is bound to suffer big time.

Relationship Advice: How to Cope with Stress

Stress is inevitable. You can't control how much stress comes into your life. However, the only thing you can control is your perspective of the world, people and most importantly how you view yourself. By finding a better way to cope with stress and your emotions, your relationship can significantly improve.

The best way to cope with stress and negative emotions that arise because of it is to take a step back and take time for yourself. Many times, we don't give ourselves a moment of free time to process our emotions, instead we take it out on the people around us. When this happens, relationships deteriorate and weaken because of this. Take up meditation, yoga or go for a morning run. These are greats ways to blow off some steam from your stress, plus it's a great way to improve your body and help you feel great about yourself.

If you're not a very active person, another way for you to deal with stress is to keep a journal. Writing in a journal is a great way to vent your emotions. Take the time for you to “decompress” from the stress of a bad day (away from your partner) but always find your way back to your partner and reconnect with them.

Relationship Advice: Focus On Moving Forward

Sometimes life gives us lemons. Our partner could say or do something to upset or annoy you. If they forgot to take out the trash or was 30 minutes late in picking you up after work, don't let stuff like that get to you. When you dwell and hold grudges against your partner, you're essentially resisting what happened to you. When you resist a situation, you're focusing your energy on the past. You can not control the past but you can work towards a better future. When you dwell on what went wrong, you're preventing yourself from moving past it. This will surely deteriorate your relationship if you're constantly bearing grudges or holding something against your partner. You and your partner are a team. Work together for a brighter and happier future, why dwell in the past that does not serve you in getting what you want?

When you're more accepting of your reality, you're open to the possibilities of a satisfying and amazing relationship. Remember, your partner has their own pitfalls and shortcomings-- they're humans just like you! Keep these 3 top relationship advice in mind if you want to improve your relationship with your partner.
