Do you know where to tap?

Hey friends,

Welcome to another month; the month of May. I am sure you are still in tune with the goals you set early in the year. Ensure you follow the principles in our Goal Achievement Strategy (GAS). Is it true that you have done away with most of your New Year resolutions? That is why I encouraged you to adopt GAS instead.

It is likely that you must have taken several actions since January and have not seen the expected effects. That is typical of any goal to be achieved especially if it is a pioneering goal. Nothing good come easy. Do not be discouraged, push on. Those actions are better than inaction. The actions you have taken have pushed you near your goals. You will soon realise this. Just double your efforts or adopt new strategies this MAY.

Our monthly series of Activate your power for this month is centre on a story. I am not the author of this story neither do I know the author. However, it is a story that could help you at this time and stage of the process of achieving your year 2011 goals. Please read through and see my comments at the end of the story.

The Story..........

Have you ever heard the story of the giant ship engine that failed? The ship's owners tried one expert after another, but none of them could figure out how to fix the engine. Then they brought in an old man who had been fixing ships since he was a youngster. He carried a large bag of tools with him, and when he arrived, he immediately went to work. He inspected the engine very carefully, top to bottom.

Two of the ship's owners were there, watching this man, hoping he would know what to do. After looking things over, the old man reached into his bag and pulled out a small hammer. He gently tapped something. Instantly, the engine lurched into life. He carefully put his hammer away. The engine was fixed! A week later, the owners received a bill from the old man for ten thousand dollars.

"What?!" the owners exclaimed. "He hardly did anything!"

So they wrote the old man a note saying, "Please send us an itemized bill."

The man sent a bill that read:

Tapping with a hammer .......................... $ 2.00

Knowing where to tap ............................ $ 9,998.00
GRAND TOTAL ………………………………… $10,000.00

Effort is important, but knowing where to make an effort in your life makes all the difference.

I pray GOD to always give us the insight to know WHERE TO TAP whenever the need arises in the journey of our life.

Putting efforts is not as important as knowing where to put the efforts. You must, however, not give up as most successful efforts are products of failed attempts. The earlier you know where you are called, the earlier and the better you are celebrated. Consider these two real experiences:

1. A young lady graduated from the university as a law student with good grades. She refused to enroll into the law school but instead decided to start facial make up business- what a madness you will say. Today, she is the pioneer of facial and bridal makeup industry in Nigeria and enjoyed enormous first mover advantages. She simply knows where to tap and tapped in on time.

2. Seyi George Olofinjana graduated from the engineering department of a university. He decided to keep his certificate for a while and concentrate on playing football. Without football, you might not have heard of his name. He knows where to tap.

How do I know where to tap?

At creation, God deposited different talents into His creatures. It is your responsibility to discover your inmate talents and developed them. What are the things you will love to do and be happy without being paid? Conversely, what will you pay others to give you the opportunity to do? That’s where to tap. You might be enjoying what you are doing either making money or having fun, but still have something attracting your interest. That is your "where to tap" clamouring for expression. You will be better for it if you polish those talents and tap them now.

If you are yet to discover where to tap, I will guide you to use PUSH approach. Set a week aside; a week of finding purpose. Purify your mind, be ready to listen and PUSH-PRAISE UNTIL SOMETHING happened. You will hear from God.
