Fly fishing may be one of the truest forms of self expression. It has the ability to build character and resolve. It is definitely not the fastest or easiest way to get fish. If speed is what you desire your local grocery store can accomplish that with a mere request. No, fly fishing is something altogether different. I think Howell Raines said it best âfly fishing is to fishing as ballet is to walking.â I would argue that there are few skills that someone could learn as

I’ve provided a lovely collection of quotes about mother that are great for putting in a card or letter to let her know how much you love and appreciate her. I attribute all my success in life to the moral, intellectual and physical educatio I received from her."rn~ George Washington
One of the main reasons why numerous people tend to stagnate in their development and growth as conscious human beings, is because they have a fear of taking responsibility for themselves. Most individuals are afraid of not having what it takes. This fear, can sometimes be embedded into peoples psyche because of how they were raised as children. In today's society, many people have just been given everything they've ever wanted, without ever having to work hard to earn it. O
To show grace isn't about being kind now and then. Grace transcends little prayers at dinner and women named Grace. Grace isn't always about moving your body gracefully; it's a much higher calling. To be able to show grace fully is a tall order. Look for ways to shine your grace toward others and inspire them to do the same. Passing on grace makes the world a better more elevated place to live.

Your friend or family member is graduating soon. Choose from one of these graduation quotes to share your heart-felt feelings about their accomplishment. They are great for putting into their graduation card or a letter! "There is a good reason they call these ceremonies "commencement exercises." Graduation is not the end; it's the beginning." rn~ Orrin Hatch "You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. You are the guy who'll decide where to go."rn~ Dr. Seuss
Today I wish to talk about a topic that was instrumental to me in developing MakeGirlfriends.com, and one that is creating much debate among all age groups. Cyber friendships compared to Traditional friendships.
If you study the most successful and respected people in the world, you’ll find they all share a similar trait; they accept nothing but the best in everything they do. They expect the best from their employees, their friends, their family, and even themselves. Why do you suppose that is? Are ...
âWeak minds lead to weak actions. A strong, disciplined mind, which anyone can cultivate though daily practice, can achieve miracles. If you want to live life to the fullest, care for your thoughts as you would your most prized possessions. Work hard to remove all inner turbulence. The rewards will be abundant.â ~ Robin Sharma from The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari rnReminds me of James Allenâs *brilliant* essay âAs a Man Thinkethâ (see Note) where he says: âAs the ph

Do you remember some of your beautiful childhood memories? Do you remember the joy you felt all the times you played with your friends? Do you remember how fast you used to become angry, and how fast you forgot what you were angry about? OK, one more… Do you remember how happy you were when you ate candy? When we were kids, being happy came easy. What about now? Are you happy? As children we could have answered this question without hesitation. What happened to us?
Syntax describes the structure of a language and how it is used to communicate. The importance of Syntax when we communicate is absolute (whether we are talking to ourselves OR someone else). In this brief article I want to share: • ‘How’ syntax can change the meaning of a sentence • ‘Why’ this is important • And how to best create a positive message In these two sentences for example notice how a change in syntax completely alters the meaning: “The dog bit John.” “John bit the dog.”
I decided to write this article as I was nearing the last few days of one of my Success Summits and was receiving many emails and inquiries regarding future guest presenter options. I regularly feature top experts and best selling authors on my transformative Your Path to Success Summit series. Sometimes I work with experts who have never participated in a virtual event. I thought I would share information with you on how to be a great telesummit guest.
There is a new mentality in the industrialized world which I call the microwave mentality. It is a result of the information age and will only grow with industrialization. I call it the microwave mentality.
There is a Taoist story of an old farmer who had worked his crops for many years. One day his horse ran away. Upon hearing the news, his neighbors came to visit.nn “Such bad luck,” they said sympathetically.nn “We’ll see,” the farmer replied.nn The next morning the horse returned, bringing with it three other wild horses.nn “How wonderful,” the neighbors exclaimed.nn “We’ll see,” replied the old man.nn The following
One thing middle age has done for me is make me more aware of who I really am and how I respond to life. I can wish I was wired differently, I can somewhat adapt my personality to my environment, and I can’t use my personality as an excuse for bad behavior, but I am coming to terms with how God made me. He made me an Introvert. In recent years I have come to terms with how the public side of me behaves in an extremely extroverted world. On Sundays, because I know and love our
One of the greatest milestones in my life came about the day that I stumbled upon the following citation by Tony Robbins, “Life is a gift, and it offers us the privilege, opportunity, and responsibility to give something back by becoming more.” When it is well understood and assimilated, this one sentence contains an entire philosophy. It can become a life’s purpose, a source of motivation and a guiding light to achievement and self-actualization.
Ending a long term relationship can be devastating, destructive and depressing but… there is light at the end of the tunnel. Having experienced at first hand a 21 year marriage blast apart with a hurricane force, I know that the effect is, to put it mildly, earth-stopping. If you’ve ever experienced being hung, drawn and quartered and then tried to put your self together again into some sort of presentable and functioning human being you’ll know exactly what I mean!
How many times have emotional outbursts destroyed a life or career? Our emotions can either work for us or against us depending on how we handle them. Gaining control of your emotions is a practice which requires maturity and experience. We have to learn to recognize the emotions which seek to propel us into action and respond accordingly rather than to react as they tell us which is often not good. We can’t prevent emotions but we can choose to not allow them to cause us to perform negative behaviors.
"I think I can. I think I can." Those are the immortal words of the Little Engine That Could, the train locomotive from the children's story who against all odds pulled his heavy load over the mountain. Those words were his affirmation to himself that pushed him to keep trying until he finally succeeded. That's all fine and dandy for a children's story. The real question we must ask now is, Do affirmations always work? The answer is yes, so long as certain âcriteriaâ have
For the purpose of this article let me give you my definition of situational stress. Situational stress is the stress associated with being near or around a particular person, place, or thing. There will always be a negative event associated with this type of stress. One example for me was an event which happened when I was a karate student. One night we were doing a running jump kick into a punching bag and I kicked up instead of into the bag. This caused me to have a terrible fall which was extremely painful.
The 4 Keys to goal attainment are: creating an inspired vision; developing a well-organized map; moving through actions steps while intrinsically motivated; and celebrating your success which sets up future success.
As an entrepreneur, there are things you must do in order to accomplish your goals so you can have the kind of business and life you have dreamed of having. From managing a team to handling clients - and everything in between - it can be easy to lose complete control of your day. We all have the same 24 hours available each day; it’s how we chose to use those 24 hours that’s makes the difference. Meetings, client services, and a To-Do List a mile long are frequent daily task
Looking back at those turbulent times in my life, I learned that success is a process in which a person must go through and complete a series of actions, changes and phases to produce success and the results wanted in life.
Focus on what inspires you all day every day! It feels good, it radiates good, and it brings you to new levels of success! Filling up on motivational and inspirational thoughts and staying far away from negative thoughts can completely reshape your day, especially if you start as soon as you wake up! They keep your spirits high and help you maintain a âcan doâ attitude. Furthermore, placing these famous one-liners somewhere that you spend plenty of time looking (like your
I just want to take this time and opportunity to write this article to the friend that I have never seen. One thing about life is that we can live for all of our life and think that we don’t have any friends but regardless of who you are you do have one friend that you have not seen. Thank you so much for protecting me over the years, even when I didn’t know that you were there. I am still standing here today only because you have been there for me. Now I trust you more because you have brought me through so much. I have learned to trust you with all things that pertain to my life.
In today’s online world of business, a great free offer is a big key to success. Long gone are the days where people could put up a newsletter opt in box and get subscribers. Now, you need a free downloadable product that people can gain access to immediately. The offer not only needs to be free, it needs to be great. Your free offer should delight and amaze. You should over-deliver. I know I feel frustrated when I get a free offer and it is a mediocre product. I am unlikely to stay subscribed or enroll in programs when the free offer is not impressive.
Afraid? Being afraid is normal, and if you are human just as I am then you feel fear from time to time. Feeling fear is not always a bad thing since fear can be healthy or unhealthy. A healthy fear is an emotion that warns us about upcoming dangers, preventing us from making mistakes. A healthy ...
Unhappy, unkind, evil and selfish people love those who love them. Do we only love those who love us? What is the required difference? We are to love those who do not love us, who do not know us, who do not conform to our ideals. We are to reach, to stretch, to bloom toward and into the lives and hearts of those who are called 'unlovable'. This is usually a difficult requirement for most of us.
I was talking with someone the other day who was telling me how upset he was because he had to wake up 10 minutes earlier in the morning. He told me that the line at the coffee shop (Tim Hortons) was getting longer and longer and he couldn't afford to arrive late at work anymore... It's funny because this person is actually using two of the 6 secrets of success that I teach my members (check out my site for more information www.cheerstothegoodlife.com) and he doesn't even rea
If you have found a great mentor (either a paid coaching relationship or a volunteer), consider yourself blessed. You have a unique opportunity to tap into that person’s wisdom , possibly develop a lifelong bond, and make a quantum leap in your life. People usually volunteer to mentor people because they want to give back and/ or they really believe in their mentees’ potential/vision. A paid mentoring relationship can be equally or even more beneficial because you generally have your mentor’s undivided attention during paid sessions.
âItâs none of your business what anyone thinks of youâ, Love Who You are With Pride! A bold statement I know but a very true statement. A statement that I have begun to truly live my life by, because why would it be your business what anyone else thinks of you? We spend our whole lives worrying about what others think. It affects our whole reality from what we wear to what we say and even sometimes what we choose to do with our lives in regards to education or even empl
Have you ever had the desire to inspire? That feeling that you wanted other people to look to you and feel their hearts getting warmer and their decisions to make the most of their lives clearer? We have probably all heard of people or met others who seem to elevate us by the way they approach life. They may have overcome the greatest odds to reach the top of their field or they may have managed to do only ânormalâ things like running a marathon or learning to read or wri
The question is, what has awakened in you because of this crisis? Does hope beat in your chest when you think of your future? Do you feel the sweet promise of tomorrow pulsing in you? Does everything you've taken for granted come sharply to clarity? Do you see your value? Do you feel the relevancy of your life? You now have the opportunity to become reacquainted with what makes you feel, as the numb shroud of your harried life falls away. Can you feel your passion? Can you begin to trace its origin?
When it comes to love we all tend to do what comes naturally, we go along with it. We then attempt to love others without knowing how to love ourselves. I’ve personally learned about self-love through my own mistakes. Those mistakes have helped me identify some common patterns we tend to ...
When you do nothing, you feel overwhelmed and powerless. But when you get involved, you feel the sense of hope and accomplishment that comes from knowing you are working to make things better.” Unknown Last year, when my sister-in-law came to visit from Los Angeles, my little one missed a few days of fifth grade. While missing a few days of fifth grade is hardly the end of the world, he did have a feeling of being overwhelmed when he was trying to make up the work that he had missed. So what is the best way to help your child when they are feeling overwhelmed?r

The music starts bumping. The lights are flashing. My dancers strut their way on stage and I start singing to a packed crowd of 1,000 club-goers at the SoHo dance club in Los Angeles. Was it a fun, awesome, powerful experience?! Actually, no. Instead of feeling the exhilaration of the moment on one of my first big performances as a solo music artist, I spent those 3 minutes completely in my head. As I sung my groovy song on auto-pilot, I scanned the room and had these random thoughts consuming my attention: Wow what a big crowd! They all look Asian. I hope they don’t boo us.
“Words, once they are printed, have a life of their own.” –Carol Burnett From Graffiti to Great Literature, All Writing is Important to Someone! “The power of the pen has not diminished. It is an age-old way to escape, pour out emotions, play with ideas, give meaning to the world and also entertain. ALL writing is important and the power of the pen will stay strong until the end.” THE PEN IS MORE POWERFUL THAN THE SWORD WHAT you write can have far-reaching consequences. Thanksgiving Holiday in America is about giving thanks, it all began when Native Americans helped the Pilgrims survived by teaching them how to fish, grow corn, and live off of the land. The Natives gave the Pilgrims a wealth of knowledge. What have you given lately? Many people get together on this day to give thanks for all the things they have received. Yet, if you are truly thankful you have a desire to share your wealth with others. It’s not about money, food or clothing, thanksgiving is about “GIVING,” not receiving.
Breath helps in all things. Deep diaphragmatic breathing is a great way to connect in the moment. You can follow the breath on its journey through your body, see it entering your nose down your throat into your belly deep in your lungs feeding your body the stuff of life, nourishing you, healing you. Watch is leave taking with it all the stress, disease and fear with it. There is a yogic technique of placing the tongue tip of the tongue to the top ridge of the mouth as you breath in and out of your nose brings immediate calming relief.r
Living an Exciting Expectant Life Your Exceptional Importance in This World We can choose to live into our joys or under our sorrows. We can decide what is best for us. Our health, our well-being and total life wellness depends on the decisions we make. Our careers are directed by our choices, our words and our actions.
There are two ways that we can look at problem solving. There is the way that we would like to use to solve the problem and there is the way that we must use if we ever hope of solving it. That is particularly true when we find that the world is not turning the way that we would like.
It is always an honor when I am asked to speak at graduation time. The opportunity to share my thoughts of encouragement as I look into the eyes of tomorrow’s champions is exhilarating, to say the least. Here is a summary of my message to this year’s crop of graduating seniors: “As you turn the page on the next chapter of your life, I’d like to offer you three powerful words of advice.
Check out these amazing quotes on fear. See what famous people and even the Bible has to say about fear. 1. "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself." rn~ Franklin D. Roosevelt Fear is such a debilitating emotion, if left unchecked. It robs us of our ambition and hope. It renders our mind ineffective and saps us of our strength. Franklin D. Roosevelt is right, there is only one thing to fear and that is fear. 2. "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."rn~ Bible – 2 Timothy 1:7 (KJB)
Live your life. Switch off. Unplug. Experience things. This was the advice I read the other day from a writer. I think about it every day. I look around during my commute to work in a crowded train and I see strangers with their heads down, plugged in. Smart phones, e-readers, iPods, tablets, a whole world of personal entertainment at hand. In reality, what I see is consumers, people using, addicts. I am not a Buddhist monk meditating in the carriage though. I listen to music
Why is that we have two ears and one mouth? Quite an interesting phenomena, isn't it? It's definitely something to ponder. I'm sure there is some really good scientific reason for it, but I can only tell you what I was told when I was growing up: God gave us two ears and one mouth so that we could listen twice as much as we speak. r
You have $100 in your bank account, your rent is past due, your creditors are calling, your business is dwindling and to top it all off, someone sideswiped your car and now it won’t start. And some self-help guru out there is telling you to look beyond appearances and know that you have ...
What does it mean to be a conscious human being? This isn’t exactly the opposite of being unconscious as in BAM! - someone knocks you out - but almost. The best parallel I can think of is kids - such oblivious little mortals. They will step on your foot without knowing it, butt in front of you ...
Do you want to have a multitude of friends? If you don’t the only reason is that you haven’t invested the amount of time that you need to. It doesn’t matter how you look. Whether you are attractive or not or how big or small that you are not things that add to or detract from the equation. Have you ever known someone who was not good looking at all but had a multitude of friends? The only thing that made that person popular was the fact that they invested their time in the making of friends. The bible says that he who has a multitude of friends must show himself friendly.
This is an article that I can write with some authority because I have been there and done that. I used to have a serious anger management problem. It was so serious that it encompassed all areas of my life and had serious negative effects on my friendships. This problem was not natural and not normal but as with all people who have an anger management problem I felt in every case that the anger was justified. I would get angry at perceived indiscretions of other people. Most of the time the indiscretions were real, some times they were imagined.
Some Thoughts and Quotes on the word IMPOSSIBLE The next time someone tells you something is impossible, just Smile, nod your head and move on. In your mind you can thank them for the motivation to prove their statement wrong. After al who mare they and HOW do they know for certain that whatever in question is in fact “impossible”. The real fact is 99% of the time they are not qualified to make that statement. In fact every day on this earth people are proven wrong and things get done that were supposedly “impossible”. So again people can choose to think what they want to think.

We take care of our children. We take care of our spouses. We take care of our pets. We take care of our parents. Why don’t we take care of ourselves with the same energy, and passion, as we do for others??? It sounds so easy in theory to turn our attention inward, but in practical application most of us fail miserably at it. We find time for everyone, and everything else, but not for ourselves.
Are you ready... rn ...to step into your greatness? One of the characteristics of Greatness is listening to the wisdom within you above and beyond the âshouldsâ and the voices outside of you. Your inner wisdom speaks to you as an idea, impulse or inspiration. It speaks to you in every moment providing answers to your questions, direction and guidance. It is always present. The ultimate wisdom within is an inner knowing that says âyes, this is just rightâ or âno, thi
Tips to Overcoming Anxiety Anxiety can rob us of much of the pleasure that life entitles us to. In most cases it can be helped by combining a few changes in your daily routine. Anxiety can be handled like any sickness or disease although I wouldn’t classify it as a mental illness. There are times however when it should be considered a mental illness but most times it depends on the situation. Prolonged anxiety or stress can lead to long term health and mental illness problems.
We are all familiar with the phrase, faith moves mountains. In the Webster dictionary faith is define as: strong belief in something, esp. without proof. To nonbelievers it is nothing but mere superstition or the wishes of unintelligent minds. However, to true believers faith can simply be ...

I am not here to tell my life story, explain all the mistakes I have made (which have been many), or to drag on and on about everything I have been diagnosed with. I am simply here to tell how I overcame the hurt, the pain, the addiction, and everything else that has, in the past, been put on me by others and put on me by myself. I have been run through the mill by men, friends, drugs, alcohol, and even some of my family, but most of all by ME. I was a product of the decisions (the good and the bad) that I made. Hello, my name is Keli, and I'm an overcomer. I was raised in church.
Nature abhors a vacuum. And so it is with our lives. Everyone is busyâeveryone. Ask any retired people you know, and theyâll tell you they donât know where the time goes. Their life is full. And theyâre retired. You canât put any more into a full cup. And when our lives are filled to the brim, thereâs no room for anything else to come in. As our lives become more and more frenetic, we often become stressed, our health suffers, we have less fun, and we feel more an

I am struck this week by the realization (again) of how often people do the same things over and over again even if they are not getting a desired result. If you do the same thing? What will you get? The same results. Remember that saying about the definition of insanity- Doing the same things, but expecting different results? I even catch myself doing this sometimes- whether its trying to get my son to keep his room clean or something business related.
The biggest hindrance that most of us face in not achieving our goals and objectives is that we don’t act aggressively enough to accomplish them. I used to think that if God is on my side every accomplishment would be easy. There is nothing further from the truth and I have learned better now. I have missed out on many opportunities in life and many accomplishments because I would falter at the first sign of difficulty and figure that since there were so many problems I must be doing the wrong thing.
Hi there, A while back when I was getting ready to launch my book 'How To Change Your Life One Day At A Time' I decided to create a street video to help promote it. I had only one question that I wanted to ask of many complete strangers. I wanted to document how different people would answer the same question, based on their own lives and circumstances.
Mom, can I borrow the car? Dad, can I have some money for the movies? Honey, what's for dinner? Life is full of wanting things from people and trying to get people to do things for us. That just seems to be the way things are these days. And many of the things that we need or want are necessary, but a lot of them are not. Doesn't it feel good when you can give those things to someone? The car . . . The money . . . A good meal . . . It really does feel good to be able to provide. It can feel pretty lousy if you cannot. r
1. I have numerous choices in my life beyond mere survival. 2. I have a right to discover and know my Child Within. 3. I have a right to grieve over what I didn’t get that I needed or what I got that I didn’t need or want. 4. I have a right to follow my own values and standards. 5. I have a right to recognize and accept my own value system as appropriate. 6. I have a right to say no to anything when I feel I am not ready, it is unsafe or violates my values. 7. I have a right
I’ve provided a wonderful collection of quotes about Dad that are great for putting in a card or letter to let him know how much you love and appreciate him. Let your father know you care, not just on his birthday or Father’s Day, but for any old reason. "Fathers are angels sent from heaven."rn~ Author Unknown "My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person, he believed in me."rn~ Jim Valvano "The greatest gift I ever had came from God; I call him Dad!"rn~ Author Unknown "One father is more than a hundred Schoolmasters."
Our destiny is written before us in the stars...***** Astrologically, we now have gathered our harvests & we are entering a time to review those seeds that germinated well & those that maybe need to be let go off before they bring down the rest of our well nurtured crops. Astrologically speaking, Mercury turns retrograde on 7th of September & stays that way until 29th, this will help us greatly in reviewing our crops all over September as Mercury normally goes into storm a few days prior & after (storm is where it appears to speed up & become chaotic). Most people groan when they fin
It is inevitable that you are going to find yourself in situations where you just won't be on the same side as other people. It's just a part of life. If we all agreed, that would make for an interesting situation, but try as you may, it just is not going to happen. The problem becomes when we find ourselves in those situations where we disagree with others. How do we handle it? What do we say? How should we express ourselves? These are all very good questions. r
The brain is a muscle which needs to be nourished just like the rest of the body. The brain needs nutrition and oxygen just like the rest of the human body. If the cells are not fed they will atrophy and die. When we exercise the rest of the body the heart pumps blood to the entire body including the brain. The blood flowing to the brain feeds the brain with oxygen and nutrients while it removes waste products. This is vitally important to brain function and is an overlooked aspect of brain condition.
My first book "Grading the Teacher" took four years to write. It was published by Penguin Books in 1996-and became a best-seller! Over time, for several reasons which I will describe in a later post, I developed the idea for a “Mining Your Resources” series I believed would be beneficial to individual readers as well as to workshop facilitators. So …why did I decide to self-publish the four-volume series instead of approaching traditional publishers? MY 10 REASONS: 1. CONTROLr
The happiest people ever - can include you or it can describe someone else you heard about someplace. The person standing next to you could be extremely happy. I want to be known as happy. Through struggles and tragedy I am promised that God only wants good for me. I believe it's a choice to learn and know happiness. There may be degrees of happiness some days. Sometimes I seem more or less happy but generally we must decide to be happy and grateful; just do it. We may not happy about a situation or a sadness but in spite of it all, we can live happy lives.
Some people are effective listeners and some are not. The difference between being a good listener and a bad one lies in the way that you interact with the speaker. A good listener is intimate with the speaker in that he or she listens on a whole different level. An average listener will hear with the ears but a great listener listens with the entire soul.
The true leader is the one who is more self motivated out of the group. If you can’t motivate yourself there is no way that you will be able to motivate subordinates. Sometimes the leader motivates by actions rather than words. When you look at the leader on athletic teams you will note that they are normally the best athletes on the team. They are the ones who will whip the team up to meet a challenge on the playing field.
Have you ever felt the pressures and expectations of keeping up with today’s latest lifestyle and trends? Yes? Okay, fess up. How many of us have an Apple product in our house? iPod, iPhone, iPad, Mac computer, etc.? I do. I received an iPod from a vendor a few months ago, and it is still sitting in the package on my dresser. Now, some of you might say that it’s a waste for me to not use it right now. I mean, I could download 100’s of songs and listen to them while I go on my daily walk. But, if I did, I could be missing out on something more important than an iPod or iTunes.
"...Inner happiness actually is the fuel for success" Dr, John Hagelin You might feel like you are doing and thinking the right things- maybe you have a goal poster, affirmations, a strong vision, and you are action oriented- but you have some goals that seem to remain elusive. There are a few things you can consider- one is that the joy and happiness needs to be in place first- two is that you may have a limiting belief in play (I am not worthy, I don't deserve this, etc),and three - you may need to expand your capacity to receive.
A dear friend sent me a story recently that, though quite inspiring, could easily have been imagined. After doing a little research, I found that it did indeed happen on May 20, 2001 during the commencement exercises at Washington Community High School in Washington, Illinois.
Now in this article I will really put myself on the line because I am terribly guilty of being resistant to change. Change isn’t always good but it is good most of the time. I like to feel like I have mastered my daily routine which is the exact cause of my problem. We like routine because it gives us a sense of comfort. Living an ordered routine like is easy because it seems to put us in control of our situation. When change happens it upsets the apple cart and confuses our ordered mentality.
Winners are not always the strongest, smartest, most beautiful, or most talented. They do not always go to the best schools, live in the best neighborhoods, nor born to successful parents. All Winners have one thing in common: Winners believe in their heart they can win. They believe in their ability, passion, and potential. Winners believe in their dreams and visualize winning in their mind and soul. They believe life is not a written script and know their present situation
Self-help books may tell you to look inside to find happiness, but you can also find it by looking outside â as in outside the country. People from Central America to Scandinavia regularly rank among the happiest in the world. Weâll let you in on their secrets so you can try them yourself. 1. I first learned of this valuable strategy from my good friend and mentor Richard Sutphen, author of Radical Spirituality.rn rnMany try to change outer circumstances instead of working with the law of attraction and changing their inner world. Often trying to change the outer world will work against you rather than for you. Whenever you attempt to control someone else you are expressing fear and shutting down your solar plexus. Usually the fear comes in the form that the other

Here’s something we all can use more of--- APPRECIATION. Is there anyone out there who would OBJECT to some appreciation? How about a nice ‘Thank you’ for all you do? Would that feel nice? Would it be welcomed? I’m betting YES. “The way to develop the best that’s in a man is by appreciation and encouragement.” -Charles Schwab- Try this today: Spread some appreciation. Let’s start with the owners and bosses out there...do something to say THANK YOU to your staff. See what the reaction is.r
I got the idea for this article one day as I watched an older sitcom on TV. In the program a man was really pouring on the charm as he sought to create a relationship with a woman who was a housemaid. He thought that her self esteem needed to be boosted because when he met her and asked her what was her occupation her answer was that she was just a maid. He made it his duty to give her a better impression of who she actually was and the job that she did.
I think that we can all agree that there is only one superman. I think that we can also agree that it’s definitely not me or you. So since it ain’t me I don’t have to try to pretend like it is.
The world over, there is a major issue which has been usually under-highlighted, that is, people in general have a tendency to take credit for themselves, and attribute the causes of failure to others. Not owning up failure by ourselves has been one of the causes of undesirable consequences of mankind; including under-achievement, unwelcome changes, stagnation, and under-performance. By ignoring our ignorance, what we do not realize is that we are slowly and silently perishin
This might be a tough one to understand. You may be asking yourself; don’t content and satisfied mean the same thing? Not really. Contentment is something we should all be striving for. To be content, as far as I’m conce ed, is to be able to be happy in the life you’re living; to have the ...
Special thanks to the RED CROSS... This past week I had the pleasure and the HONOR to attend the 12th annual Real heroes Breakfast, put on by the Syracuse American Red Cross. It is an annual tribute to some of the community’s local heroes. Their tagline ‘Ordinary people…Extraordinary Courage. In an instant, real people become REAL HEROES.’ The program was quite impressive, and I walked out of the room feeling very good, and proud. Proud of my fellow courageous humans. Pumped up that I have the chance to hear some chilling, some tear jerking, and some downright brave stories.
I just read an astonishing article. It gives us one of the keys to happiness. And we all want our kids to be happy! What makes people happy? What leads people to say they are satisfied with their lives? Is it money? - NO! It's time. Having time leads to happiness.
I grew up in the South. As a result of that I helped my mom make a lot of casseroles and salads for those who were sick and in need. It was just what you did. We belonged to a Presbyterian church and every Sunday we picked up Mrs. Browman, a woman who lived to be 100, every week so she could sing in the choir. We also went each week to visit Chief and Bernie Dowell, an older couple in the church. Bernie had alzheimers and so I learned how to communicate with her so that my mo
A while back browsing thru blogs, I bumped in to one where the blogger was questioning whether noble emotions still reside in the hearts of men. I had the answer to her question but, did not want to take the time for it. Today, I'm going to share my view on the matter, in hopes that it may serve ...
Sebastian Ravitz, who is a graduate of the Chapman University, has a Bachelorâs degree in Psychology and advertising. Because of Sebastianâs optimism and integrity, his peers elected him onto the Conduct Review Council at The Bay School of San Francisco, where he was able to review multiple cases with the other students on the council. Is going away/traveling GOOD for a relationship? We’ve all been there. Some more than others. Traveling. Without your spouse/significant other/ children and loved ones. The question is: is there some positives and, does it actually strengthen your relationship at home? I’ll share some comments I thought of but mainly wanted to see what your comments are on this one. For one, it keeps things fresh. It reminds me of letting the tied up dog off his/her leash for awhile.
I have just began teaching Reiki in Mysteries, which I am so happy about as since I shut my shop in London & moved to cornwall, teaching Reiki has been rather difficult. I got an email the other week asking if there was any spaces left on the next Reiki course.
Edwin Markham (1852-1940) stated, “all that we send into the lives of others comes back into our own.” This is now called the Law of Attraction. What a brilliant man Edwin Markham must have been. So if this statement reigns true then when we send love and light into the lives of others, this love and light will be granted unto us. When we send resentfulness, bitte ess into the lives of others then we get more of the same into our own lives.r
I grew up in the Catholic tradition & really experienced my faith through music as I played piano & sang for all the masses at my all-girls Catholic school in Hawaii. I remember one day as a teenager when I found out one of the girls in my rock band was not Catholic. In fact, she did not go to any church at all. This totally confused me since I thought she & her parents were some of the coolest people in the world AND they did not practice any religion.
My role model, the man that I take after, the person with whom I share so many qualities, is my father. And bless his heart, my 70-year-old father will make his first parachute jump on July 1st, Canada Day. Why? Perhaps itâs his unending energy, his fierce spirit, or his eternal showmanship, but my father, 70 years of age, is going to jump out of an airplane to promote his very successful multicultural festival, Abbyfest, abbyfest.com. It is so successful in fact, that it h
Goal achievement is not just practical; it's magical! Even though it is the result of something that is, for the most part, easy to comprehend, when we watch a dream turn into reality it feels like the essence of real magic and inspires us with enchantment. As I have explained in a previous article, the process of goal achievement basically comes down to something extremely simple: persistently take the best action you can, aimed at accomplishing what you want. As I also ex
Maintaining your commitment to your positive thoughts and acts of influence presents many challenges and obstacles. You may experience some failures (though not permanent) in your jou ey. It is very difficult at times to hold steadfast to your commitment. Of course achieving anything worthwhile will always have some degree of difficulty. It is my belief and my experience that commitment is paramount to ultimately achieving your desired virtuous objectives. How do you constantly maintain your commitment? There are two main ingredients.
According to Deloitte’s recent Shift Index survey, 80% of people are actually dissatisfied with their job. They hate going to work most days. If you’re reading this article I guess that includes You. What a way to live - I should know, because I was in that situation for the best part of a decade. I felt like I had no options, like I was trapped. And even if I did find another job I’d be worse off. This sucked all the enjoyment out of my work and I spent my days watching the clock whilst juggling 101 urgent things that needed to be done.
Trash. We’ve all seen it. Most of us have walked around it, next to it and over it. We pretend it’s not there! Perhaps we’ve become oblivious to it, or we just don't care? This past weekend, our local Camillus, NY Chamber of Commerce organized a small clean up on one main street, in a small 1 mile radius. We were 7 people strong. Included in the group were the Chamber president who didn’t think picking up trash was beneath him. Now that’s an example of leading by example!
There are some things that you can't learn in high school. Someone has to tell you these stuff and help you realise the truth. I decided to help with a few things that I've learned from a lecture by Bill Gates. You can choose if you want to believe them or not, but trust me â I know what I'm saying! So here we go... Welcome to the real life! 1.Love is not fair! Get used to this. Your friend may be not as good as you, for example. Maybe he will be the worst student ever, but
"The creative is the place where no one else has ever been. You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you'll discover will be wonderful. What you'll discover is yourself!" - Alan Alda Since I was a little boy I like to spend a lot of time under the shower; sitting or lying down to...THINK! Yes, Iâm a genuine shower thinker; I tend to get my best ideas and insights under the shower! Every morning I meditate, prepare for the
When I talk about a leader’s IQ I am not talking about the above average intelligence of the honor student. It is one thing to be an honor student but quite another to be an intelligent leader. Leadership sense is a combination of common sense, knowledge, and wisdom.
Decisiveness is more important than making good decisions many times. Most times people miss out when they make their decisions because they allow conditions to dictate their decisions. Yes we must pay careful attention to the conditions which will have an effect on our decisions but we need to remember that conditions will never be exactly what we need for them to be. We can end up waiting until the opportune time to make a decision has past.
What is Leadership? Leadership is influencing others to make positive changes. Having a position of authority does not make a person a leader. Leadership isn’t about gaining titles; it’s about attracting followers. Leadership must be earned. Here are a few leadership tips on how to earn followers: Integrity The more credible you are, then the more confidence people place in you. Consistency in your actions, values, principles, expectations, and outcomes is how you verify your integrity. Entrust Problem Solving
I have good friends who have three kids that are very close in age. The other night I was over at their house and the parents, let’s call them Randi and Mason, were telling my wife and I that they feel like there is a mob mentality in the house. They felt that the kids gang up on them to get their way. I was a little taken aback.
Life After Divorce: Choose Your Own Ending While divorce can be a heartbreaking event, the key to healthy adjustment is to accept the realities of your new situation and move on. The future lies in your hands because you have control over your choices. One of the hardest things to do is to choose to forgive. Difficult, but essential for your healing and emotional health. Forgive yourself and forgive your spouse. In any divorce there is fault on each side, not always equal fault, but fault nevertheless. Take time to examine your flaws (without beating yourself up).
"Creativity involves breaking out of established patterns in order to look at things in a different way." - Edward de Bono Q. Really, what’s the big deal about being more creative? Why would I want to be? A.
What exactly is a personal development plan? It is not some secret mysterious schedule; it is merely a guide for you to follow to get yourself from where you are right now, to where you want to be in the future. That means, basically, that your personal development plan is your roadmap.
Flying isn't the hard part, landing in the net is. - Mario Zacchini Did the Wright Brothers give up? No and because of their tenacity, we can fly every day in the sky.
Have you tried haggling with a seller before? Maybe you have, but doing it may sometimes give you cold, sweaty hands. Now imagine doing it while having a stammering disorder. Observing Oscarâs greatest motion picture of the season makes me personally remember the moment when I followed a buddy to transact with Vancouver Hyundai dealers. I was glad that finally, somebody made a movie focusing on stuttering people. With the Kingâs Speech finishing with four Oscar trophies,
“Self-confidence gives you the freedom to make mistakes and cope with failure without feeling that your world has come to an end or that you are a worthless person.” – Anonymous Self-confidence comes with the feeling that you are in control, that you are above the fray and that no one can hurt you physically or emotionally. It’s a state of mind that some people enjoy on an almost constant basis while, for others, it may only be felt on very rare occasions.
We have a critical message for you today. It will take you 60 seconds to read it. Don’t say there’s not enough time. For you or someone else (share it), this message will be life-changing. A few truths we’d like to remind you of: Asking to get paid when you’ve earned it is not “greedy”. Resting when your body needs it is not “lazy”. Making mistakes is not “dumb”. Being afraid is not “chicken”. Being proud of yourself is not “arrogant”. Sharing your natural gifts and talents doesn’t make you “self-centered”. Having money doesn’t make you “selfish”.
The question on the table today is.. How good is Y O U R word? Do you follow through with what you tell people you will do? When you say “ I’ll call you next week”, do you? When you say “Let’s get together soon”, do you mean it or are you just saying it to be CORDIAL? In business, when you ...

When you say the word ‘mirror’ most people immediately vision a reflective surface upon which they can see their image, those mirrors can come in different shapes and with different ornaments around them. What many of us fail to appreciate are the walking mirrors in our lives: our family, ...
Fear is a natural feeling and we can’t avoid it. The one thing that we can learn to do is control it when it happens. If we can learn to control our fear we can take a bad situation and turn it around for our good. Fear is a natural reaction which was given to us in order to help us to overcome adversity or escape from danger. Fear is not pleasant at all and the biggest danger is allowing ourselves to be overwhelmed by it. Fear can be one of the best things that ever happened to us if we allow it. It can also be one of the worst if we fail to control it.
Those jaw dropping images of the earth from space have the same thing in common with our old photographs we bring in to be restored: Barbara Askins, who invented the technology that allows us to do both. Barbara was a teacher, and once her children were in school she returned to college. After receiving her bachelorâs and masterâs degree in chemistry, she was hired by NASA. Though the technology to take pictures from space had already been invented, those pictures often c
Sometimes the hardest thing to do is to forgive someone. Other times the hardest thing to do is to forget. Many times the hardest thing is to do is to forgive yourself and forget. The funny thing is that forgiving and forgetting are both really important when it comes to trying to get on with your life after it has been marred by controversy or tragedy. What A Unique Concept: Forgive And Forget! r
On a deep emotional level we are all aware of our spiritual nature and unde eath the surface level of life there is a dimension that we all long to make contact with. There are many views and definitions of what spirituality really is, but what I would like to do here is to present 3 quotes on spirituality from 3 very influential people; people who have made vastly different contributions to life and our understanding of what it means to be a human being in this world. The f
I've been pondering this question for some time now. Losing everything, specifically worldly items, is not a fun thing to contemplate, but it does tend to put things into perspective. I've been asking myself if there is more to it than first meets the eye. The answer is a definite maybe. Think about this: What if you woke up one morning and everything that you owned or possessed was gone, never to be seen again? The cars your drove are no longer parked in the driveway . . . The belongings you treasured were no where to be found . . . r
Most people will spend more time planning a two-week vacation than they will planning their life. Of course no one would even dream of building a house without having a plan or even go on a trip without a specific plan however when it comes to designing a life, in many cases, wisdom is thrown out the door and life’s journey is undertaken with the, “happy go lucky” attitude. No wonder there is so many failures.
Hiya, A while back when I was getting ready to launch my book ‘How To Change Your Life One Day At A Time‘ I decided to create a street video to help promote it. I had only one question that I wanted to ask of many complete strangers: WHAT ONE THING YOU WOULD LIKE TO CHANGE ABOUT YOURSELF? I wanted to document how different people would answer the same question, based on their own lives and circumstances. What I found was in many, many cases their answer led me to ask another question, then another, then a final question. (A process I now call ‘Crossing The River‘).
My oldest son likes to expose me to new music. To bands with names like âEl Ten Elevenâ and âArchitecture in Helsinki.â Atonal, modern-sounding stuff that I canât quite describe. For Motherâs Day he gave me this CD. Creativity involves anticipation mingled with uncertainty. For the record, ideas grow out of your brain through a simple yet complex union of egg and creative energy. What mental soil allows you to become a songwriter, poet, artist or inventor? Why do some of us “pop” with ideas while others merely drink a beer while they pass the time away? Have you ever heard of a “Dream Catcher”? Many people feature them above their beds and on the rear view mirror of their cars. They in
Are you carrying around a bunch of excess mental baggage which you don’t really need to carry? You need to travel as lightly as you possibly can in order to make better distance. Mental baggage will slow you down and prevent you from reaching your goals just the same as a heavy physical load. I like to use the analogy of the jockey who guides a race horse to victory as well as the soldier or hiker who has to carry a heavy backpack. They can’t make good time if they carry excess baggage and neither can you.
We all have our own experiences along with our share of challenges, those experiences and challenges created the person we are today. For this reason we all have something we can share with others so that they can learn from our mistakes as well as our victories. And as long as we are alive, we all have something to learn. It doesn’t matter how old we are, what religion we follow or what political view we embrace, the fact is that we all have something to teach and something to learn.
Excuse me while I Kiss the Sky The words of the title of this article are words which were made famous by the late Rock musician named Jimmi Hendrix. He was talking about a totally different type of experience tha I am but I like the wording so excuse me while I kiss the sky. This has got to be the mindset that the winner maintains. If you look up you will go up, but if you look down you will go down. Keep your head up and you will remain in that realm. If you want to rise above you need to keep your mind above. Wherever the head goes the body will follow.

In a split second I discovered something very valuable and detrimental to my success as an entrepreneur. A quick story about how I came to this conclusion. A couple of years ago I was employed in the transportation industry for nine years. In the beginning I was happy with the job like most people would be. I was able to pay my bills, purchase a few items such as a nice car and pay for it in full. With that I was able to buy some things that I liked, making approximately $42,
Iâm very excited to have been invited to blog on âIntent.comâ! Yeah, I’m from planet earth. I know gas prices have sky-rocketed & the stock market has plummeted. Diabetes is on the rise. Real estate is taking a dive. War rages on while our natural resources are coming to an end. And this is just 30min worth of news. So it looks bleak & feels even bleaker, but let me burst your pessimist bubble - there is more than a silver-lining here. There is a world rich with love, joy, peace, & abundance for all that is bubbling to erupt and it is your life lived anew that will be the solution – that IS the solution.
“I want to be forever young” was a quote that I read on someone’s Facebook page recently. Forever young: what exactly does this mean? Stay at the same age forever? Look youthful all the time? Keep the same energy level? Remain young at heart? Continue to live like you are a teenager?
Most of you probably know this but a diamond is one of the hardest substances available to man. Most of you do know that diamonds are coveted above all natural precious stones. Women value diamonds and we see them on TV all of the time. The size of the diamond on a ring or other piece of jewelry is a status symbol which tells a story about the person who is wearing. Bigger diamonds are coveted by all and are used as a measure of high social standing. Most women will equate the size of their diamond engagement ring with the amount of love that their fiancée has for them.

The benefits of a good soak cannot be understated. There is much known about the benefits of sweating out toxins. Now a sauna or a steam bath may not be something that you encounter in our daily life or budget. There is a way to get the benefits of sweating in a sauna or steam bath right in the comfort of your own home. Simply, take a very hot bath, sit there and let the sweat flow. One way to help steam it up and get those sweat glands releasing toxins is to close the curtains and shut the bath room door. You can do so much to add to your steamy experience.
Do not judge each day by what you harvest, but instead by the seeds you plant. Todayâs harvest is not important, because it is the product of what you planted yesterday; what is important is that all your new seeds are well planted in fertile soil, not too close to any large bush whose roots might suffocate them, nor too far away or they will have no shade. When the roots have had time to form, grow and take hold deep in the earth they will be able to turn foul smelling man

I have to say that the saying that winners never quit is absolutely true. A winner must persevere in the face of overwhelming odds and be blindly determined to win whatever the encounter happens to be. A winner has to be totally sold out to the cause in order to win otherwise he or she will stop when the going gets too tough. The cause will have to be bigger than the person in the mind of the person before he or she will be willing to do everything necessary to win.
Recently, I watched one of my favorite movies called “Under The Tuscan Sun” and as always, found myself immersed in emotion soup..laughter, tears, goosebumps and 'aha' moments . Diane Lane plays a newly divorced writer named Frances Mayes who goes to Italy on vacation, sent there by her pregnant Lesbian friend and her friend's partner. A series of cosmically coincidental meetings and celestial signs sprinkle throughout and Frances buys a crumbling villa in Tuscany.
Simple survival requires us to be in possession of many skills. The pursuit of dreams requires many more. Most individuals rely on the support of a village, whether peopled by relatives or community members, to effectively address the numerous ways we need assistance. This can mean anything from asking favors of acquaintances and leaning on loved ones for support to paying a skilled artisan to handle specialized tasks. However, each human being is born with the capacity to be
The man or woman who wants to get more out of life strives to become more productive. When we think of productivity we normally think of a workplace contribution but productivity can apply to our hobbies and also to sport. When we talk about being more productive we are talking about getting more bang for your buck so to speak. In other words we want to get more or better work done in less time or with less effort.
Do you have a dream that keeps resurfacing yet you ignore it or immediately dismiss it? Why do you push it away? Do you think it is too grand? Do you shy away from it because of what other people might think about you and what they may say, "Who does she think she is?" Recently someone complained about their job to me. I asked, What do you really want to do? After a bunch of "I don't knows", he shared that he wanted to open up an artsy downtown cafe/restaurant. He smiled when

Let me clarify exactly what I mean when I talk about a correct frame of mind. When I say correct frame of mind I am referring to whatever frame of mind that it takes to help you get through a bad situation. A correct frame of mind has to be positive. I have heard of stories of people who were lost in the wilde ess. There are several accounts that I have read where those involved made up in their minds that they would not die. There was even one account where the lost gentleman repeated over and over to himself that he would not die.

I have settled for a lot less tha I should have on too many occasions in my life for me to count. It seems to me in society today there seems to be so much focus on what the definition of beauty is, and the sad thing is the message is always geared to what we see on the outside of someone and it makes me sad. We have young girls who see and hear that message everyday and that message leaves these girls with no self esteem, no confidence, and for some it leads into the world of eating disorders and so many other horrible things in life.

We all walk many different paths in life and we each have a story to tell. Some of us have faced horrible things in life that we wouldn't wish on our worst enemy and some of us have had an easy road so far. But the fact is we all are on a jou ey of this thing we call life, and we all have a chance each day to make choices that determine which road we choose on that day. I know your past jou ey may have been full of pain and sorrow and sometimes you may think it will always be that way, but it doesn't have to be that way anymore.
“My goal is always to inspire my readers to want – no, demand – more out of life. After reading this article, you’ll feel encouraged, inspired, and focused. I want you to be empowered to change the world in which you live – empowered to change you!” Getting motivated is challenging alone, but staying motivated makes it an even greater challenge. How can you stay motivated when the economy and your personal finances are in disarray? How can you stay motivated when there are s
You pick up 5 year old Jimmy from soccer practice, 8 year old Alice gets dropped off from ballet lessons and 11 year old Zach comes in from Little League. It is 5:30 and you have to start dinner. While you are working on dinner you have to help Zach with a report on Italy and you have to help Alice with math homework. Finally at 6:15 you are ready to sit down to dinner. But are you ready to enjoy dinnertime with your family? Or are you hoping to just get through it? Just hoping to survive?
Now it is vital that you be truly you; influenced only by you. You need to express yourself as you, by you and for you. No holds barred. Like so many of us, perhaps you were programmed early on to say "Yes" even when you would rather say "No." You feel guilty, as if you are letting people down just by saying "No." Yet, you continue to tie yourself up with obligations to other people. Do not forget the ultimate value of your time, the obligation you owe yourself to fully express your truth. It is of critical importance that you begin to say "Yes" when you mean yes and "No" when you mean no.
No matter how old you are, self-improvement and personal growth will have a strong impact on your personality. You will be surprised to know, people spend billions of dollars on self-improvement products across the globe. This means there has been an exponential increase in the number of people gravitating towards self-growth. Secondly, if you donât keep up with the times, it will be hard for you to navigate your relationships with the people around you. Experts suggest an
Thriving after – a destination point – a place of going beyond – a result of reinvention … or to play on the Star Trek theme: going where you have not gone before. Let me explain. Life has a way of showing up in unexpected ways…circumstances show up. I sometimes call them “landmines.” We are bopping through life and wham… something happens that wasn’t much of a blip on the screen before … or even if it was, we thought we could deal with it or stop it from happening. Wrong. It happens. How do we deal with these landmines ..
One day, I met this fellow at the running track. Just by watching the intensity and passion in his face and his jogging, I could tell that he was driven by a deeper force – something was really motivating and fuelling him. As he began to walk, I caught up to him. I introduced myself. I then ...
Donât your children get bored of the same old school routine? Attending the same classes in the same atmosphere everyday does become monotonous and starts to feel like a burden. And most of us will definitely relate to the feeling, having gone through the same phase once in our lives. So why not make learning fun for the young ones? Many educational events are being organized on a regular basis, to give children a new platform to learn and grow. Still not sure how they can
Life-balance is essential for ascending into higher levels of success in life. An unbalanced life, like an unbalanced building, leans toward collapse; the higher you go, the closer the fall. 2 Each individual's true life-balance is unique. For each needs a unique measure of time spent with loved ones, in solitude, working, playing, resting, engaged in routine, breaking from routine, being in a noisy environment, being in a quiet environment, being indoors, being outdoors, etc
As a person in my late teens, when I used to hear people say that success and failure go hand in hand, it didnât fascinate me much. Like all young people, I too had an idea, a concept in my mind that if you set your mind to something, all you will get is the success you want. You will keep on climbing a ladder, achieving new goals, accomplishing new things every step of the way. It was when I actually started climbing those steps, I realized that itâs not just climbing. I
To search username availability on social networks, you should verify the brand, personal name, product or username on the different social media websites. After you find a relevant result, grab the name and secure the brand before anyone else. You need to put in the trademark and check whether it is available as a user name within the best social networks. You can even sign up or register with the networks that are available. A lot of young businesses today are reliant on th
There are many variations on the story of stone soup, but they all involve a traveler coming into a town beset by famine. The inhabitants try to discourage the traveler from staying, fearing he wants them to give him food. They tell him in no uncertain terms that thereâs no food anywhere to be found. The traveler explains that he doesnât need any food and that, in fact, he was planning to make a soup to share with all of them. The villagers watch suspiciously as he builds
I just heard some fascinating research about positive psychology and cities. We all know the stereotypes. We all think that New Yorkers are brusk, perhaps even obnoxious. We think of Los Angelenos as friendlier if not a little shallow. And we think of Atlantans as very warm and welcoming southerners. The first question we should ask is whether these stereotypes are true. The second question we should ask is, “If it is true, how does it affect us and our kids?”
I am not a marathon runner; I'm not even an experienced runner. In fact, I'm a professional drummer, and I am a new runner. In the drumming world, I learned firsthand that I should try to stand on the shoulders of giants - the legends that paved the paths. Well, I found that to be the case in ...
The biggest problems that we have in our lives originate in our minds. We may think that we have problems with people but the issues that we have with people are no more important than we allow them to be. The best way to combat anger is with kindness. It will squelch out anger like a blanket smothers a fire. Anger feeds on anger so if you don’t return a persons angry rhetoric they won’t have any oxygen left to fuel the fire. You can’t do this if your own mind is filled with anger also.
Have you ever heard the bible verse that says that whatever a man thinks in his heart defines who he is? The same is true of the words which come out of your mouth. They give an accurate picture of just what’s inside of your spirit man because they are the essence of your spirit. If you want to know exactly what you are made up of just listen to the words that you are speaking to others.
Self image is a combination of who, and what, we think we are. It is a mixture of pictures, thoughts, feeling, beliefs and ideas that we have about ourselves. Self Image is the way we habitually think of ourselves. Self image can be both positive and negative. We may see ourselves as good at sports, but not good with computers. This would mean that our Self Image in regard to sports was positive, but my image of myself about computers would be negative. Whether each of these
A while ago, I met a childhood friend and after a few minutes of conversation, I realizedâ¦she needed to stay in my childhood. As March and the season of spring comes upon us, it is critical that you start planning and equipping yourself for change. As you know, life has four seasons: summer, fall, winter and spring. However, most people are unaware that success also has four seasons: summer success, fall failure, weary winter and spectacular spring. So every three to four months, expect change to occur in your life. You must understand it has always been this way and it will continue to be this way. Circumstances, are the storms, the cold, and the rain that comes out of nowhere into your life.
In all types of online marketing like MLM, network marketing, affiliate marketing and so on, most people quit without success. They may have spent thousands or at least hundreds of dollars, countless hours and still they did not survive. And the number one reason is that they suffered from lack of consistency! And I believe their fear of commitment was the real reason behind it. What is Fear Of Commitment? Anyone running a ”normal” business know that you have to work consis

Actualizing your positive thoughts and actions of influence can be things of awesome beauty and wonder beyond description. The opposite can also be a reality. Negative thinking and repugnant actions are brutally ugly and always counter-productive. Let’s review some of the ramifications and consequences of unfavorable thinking and detrimental actions of guidance. I’ll also identify and describe four allies of negativity (there are countless of others, I chose the three I feel most passionate about).r
I am now reading a new book written by Mark Victor Hansen (of Chicken Soup For The Soul fame) and Robert G Allen (of Nothing Down Real Estate fame) called Cash in a Flash. Their book has about 15 chapters, and the first 8 have almost nothing to do with making money. The first half of the book is about changing your mindset and how you think. They believe, and I completely concur, that most of being wealthy is between your ears, not in your bank account and wallet.

In Woody Allenâs movie, Annie Hall, Diane Keaton wants to know why he isn't angry. "I don't get angry," Allen replies, "I grow a tumor instead." Deb recently had a burst appendix and she is immensely grateful for the medical intervention that saved her life. We know that illness is real, that accidents happen, and how medicine can help. :Art is the indespensible medium for the communication of a moral idea." – Ayn Rand, The Romantic Manifesto In a crowded, noisy social media world where attention span is in short supply, it has become very critical to pay attention to what one shares in other to get the attention it craves for. Many great and important contents do get drowned by the noise on social media because it fails to grab the attention of its audience, therefore losing it relevance. We live in an age where visuals have become essential to the success of a brand.
The paradox of selflessness never ceases to amaze me, yet somehow I continually forget that the receiving is in the giving. I was reminded yet again on Memorial Day when I joined Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) as they kicked-off their third year of anonymous, kind-hearted shenanigans. The über-grassroots crew set up their barebones operation in Central Parkâs Strawberry Fields: a folding table, lots of free cookies and a flimsy board smattered with Post-it notes. The sticki

Steve had spent his whole life climbing up and down every tree he could find. It could even be said the Steve may well have been the best tree climber ever.
In part one of this article, I spoke about why we should change our parenting mindset. How it will help us to control our reactions to situations. But how can we change our parenting mindset?
There are many answers to this question. But a wider perspective I want to take in my blog also includes the question: what defines great business leaders. This is an important question to ask because it relates to a code of conduct or principles we all live by. We all know that people of the same values will draw closer to each other and this is not because of race, culture or financial wealth. What draws people closer (or further apart) is the set of values they live by and
During induction weekend in Cooperstown New York 2007, baseball hubby and I were to attend a private red-carpet reception with a slew of Hall of Famers and other sports and Hollywood celebrities. Weeks before, I had agonized over what dress to wear and, as shallow as this sounds, I couldn't sleep at night trying to decide. Silly me. The first dress I had selected from my “fancy” section of the closet was what I finally decided to wear, after trying on all of them a hundred times over.
We’re still in the Career category of the Building Your Legacy Series, so today is going to be fun! Why? Because we are talking about money and how to make it! This, perhaps surprisingly, is one of the most neglected conversations we see with women entrepreneurs. But we’re going to be clear here: Just because you “love what you do” or you are “so passionate about it,” doesn’t mean you should do it for free! And it certainly doesn’t mean you should take a loss! We are all in business to make money. Period.

I took two of my sons to see the new documentary on industrial design: Objectified. (Yes, that would be a big night out for the Pieris.) It was created by Gary Hustwit, who also created a scintillating (I am dead serious) film on type design, called Helvetica. You donât have to be design geeks, like me and my sons, to enjoy these films. Poster from film Objectified I like the arc of Objectified. At first I was worried because Hustwit starts with a well-done but pretty obvio
The words we speak and think hold great sway over the kind of life that we create for ourselves. Many people live their lives plagued by negative thoughts and never even realize this. They tell themselves and others that they are doomed to fail, not good enough, or not worthy of love, yet they are amazed when their reality starts reflecting these words. Just as the subconscious mind accepts as truth the critical statements we tell ourselves, however, it is also equipped to in

One thing that I believe many of us forget about is the fact that in order to be successful we need to have people to support us in our cause. In the military a paratrooper needs to have people who are specialists in packing parachutes to pack their chutes for them. The trooper does not have the time to learn how to pack his own chute because he has a million other conce s to worry about. This most critical operation has to be performed by someone who he doesn’t even know.

So there I was, caught up in my own thoughts, the week's "to do" list, and the stress of the day, when I looked up. And there, standing just ahead, playing in the mud, making a mud bath for her barbie was my seven year-old niece, Ms. Maia Papaya. She was humming and completely unaware that I was staring, mesmorized with her beauty and her purity; with her ability to be present, in the moment, rather than thinking about tomorrow, yesterday or even what past that day. With my Thriving Through Tough Times tip, âGive to your community so you can fully recover,â I had been trying to justify it a bit backwards. However, with âgive back to recover,â I noticed this by watching clients, effective leaders and how I wa
What exactly is inspiration? We often talk about being inspiredâinspired to do something, a feeling of inspiration: âI felt inspired.â We speak about inspiring people: âSheâs an inspiring speaker.ânnThe word inspire comes from the word spirit, the Latin spîritus, meaning breath, which was derived from the verb spîrâre âbreatheâ. In the Augustan period, it gradually began to take over as the word for soul. nnFor me, inspiration is something that touches me d
I used to rule the world Seas would rise when I gave the word Now in the morning I sleep alone Sweep the streets I used to own I used to roll the dice Feel the fear in my enemies eyes Listen as the crowd would sing "Now the old king is dead! I’m not tooting my own horn here but one thing that I am learning is that life is much easier when you learn how to correct yourself. One thing is certain and that is that either you can keep yourself straight or life will straighten you out. Now I know that there are turns, knots, quirks, and curves in my own life. The beauty of me realizing that I have problems is that I know that there are places in my life where I need to be corrected.

Weâre all in the same boat. We just have different paddles, and perhaps we find ourselves on different rivers. We all live in human bodies. These are the vehicles in which we move through our world. We are all made of flesh, blood, and bone, with brains, hearts, and lungs to power us. Our paddlesâthe tools we use to move through the worldâvary, as do the bodies of waterâthe environmentsâin which we find ourselves. Some of us use our high IQs to get where we want to
The Power of Positive Thoughts Let me begin this article by saying one thing. Negative thinking will never do a thing to get you out of a negative situation. Even when things are bad and negativity is the order of the day it won’t help you at all to harbor negative thoughts. Negative thoughts will never ever help you out of a bad situation. You must think positively and aggressively pursue a course of action that will help you. You can’t allow the negative to get traction in your mind because if you do it will take control of the situation and take you down
When I use the term better life here I am not going to attempt to put my own definition on it for you. A better life for me may not be a better life for you. Some people see a better life as a life of luxury. Some see it as a life of comfort. It may be a life of happiness or contentment to others. My definition of a better life is a life of peace.
My answer to that question is a resounding yes! You can learn to be confident. As a matter of fact confidence is the result of learned behavior. We have either learned to be or not to be confident based on our experiences in life. The confident person has learned that they in fact can overcome adversity or the problems which people and circumstances in life will present to them.

Say you see your first frog and want to understand what it is. Not so much what itâs croaking about, (although that can be interesting too) but what the frog really is. Traditionally, Westerners like us would grab the little guy and drop him into a bottle of formaldehyde, a preservative that doubles as a deadly poison. Frogs respire through their skin, so your âspecimenâ would die a quick but agonizing death. Next step, take it out, pin the frogâs legs out wide on a t
We all know inspiration when we feel it. It is a force that enlivens us and activates us to do somethingâwe might dance, sing, paint the house, or envision a new career. Service is an opportunity that everybody has to contribute to the world. It's like breathing in and breathing out. Although we need to breathe in, it's equally important to breathe out. It's important to receive and it's important to give, and to give of ourselves in the way that actually serves who or what is being served. Well, how do we do that? I've found often that there are people that conclude they don't know what to do. They think, "Well, I'd like to serve. I'd like t
Intent is defined in the dictionary as: firmly or steadfastly fixed or directed. As I began to think about what my first blog was going to be, I decided to ask my twelve year old son what the intent was for his life. He said, "I want to fall in love when I get older, get married and have a job that I love so much that I don't even feel like I'm at work." His intent for today is, "To sell as many golf balls and chocolate chip cookies as possible at the golf course." What a tho
Around 1994 my life was changed by a book called Spiritual Politics. It helped me see the big picture of global conflicts and gave me an elevated view of what was happening. It delivered a fascinating analysis of the cosmic, karmic and metaphysical reasons behind politics, world affairs and current events. It revealed that I had to work on myself to make a difference in the outer world. Itâs a large, detailed, and exhaustive work on the hidden reasons behind the superficial
Letâs Clean This Place Up! nnâThe world is not to be put in order; the world is order incarnate. It is for us to put ourselves in unison with this order.ânâHenry MillernnA few years ago, I was the publisher of a magazine called Creating Excellence. We were nearing an important advertising deadline and were a long way from reaching our sales objectives. nnI called a full staff meeting for some green-light thinking on ways we could bring in new business and fill the hol
This article is about biblical faith. Faith is so beautiful because it is the thing that makes all things possible. Many people have their own concept of faith but the only true faith is biblical. Faith is the knowledge that God can do whatever he wants to and that he is working in your favor. The bible describes faith as a substance. It is the substance of things not seen, the evidence of things hoped for. When we hope for a thing we believe that it will be physically manifested in our lives. Faith knows beyond the shadow of a doubt that it can be done.
"Love is life. And if you miss love, you miss life." ~ Leo Buscaglia rnA little good news to start off with ~ last Friday my partner and I eloped! Everything aligned and in one moment we decided to go with the flow of the universe. Within 72 hours of deciding, we followed our hearts and got married! It was a lovely day! Do you remember the movie titled Forrest Gump. His favorite saying was life is like a box of chocolates. In other words life is full of situations and circumstances but you won’t ever know what they are until the time comes. Life is full of surprises. Some of them are good but many are bad. We never know everything that we will encounter in life.
Changing our daily habits may be less difficult than formerly envisaged. Through meditating on and repeating motivational and inspirational quotes, we're better prepared to alter our thinking patterns, habits and consequently, change our existence. Here's how it is completed. If we suppose something to be easy, we discover little, if any struggle in completing it. However, if we imagine something to be difficult to achieve, then our difficulty results in being more apparent.
Every kid in his childhood has some dreams and often the elders become his role model. For Cory Machado the Portuguese American Pro Wrestler it is the pro wrestling game that became his love. Since he was 5 he used to watch pro wrestling with his grandfather. For Cory, the pro wrestling comes firsts even before baseball and football. He developed a strong bond with his grandfather laughing, smiling, and having a great time watching pro wrestling. Cory has done well in pro wre
A lot of people struggle with turbulent emotions and addictive behavior. They spend years in psychotherapy and at times they are able to overcome addictive habits through will power, only to have a recurrence and go back to old ways. From my experience, and also through observation of many people , I have discovered that a lasting change from unwanted behavior can be achieved through the practice of mindfulness.rnMindfulness has been interpreted as many things. My view of it
For for the past 10 days or so, I have been writing down any negative thoughts that I have, as soon as I become aware of them. I am surprised by how many seemingly insignificant, critical thoughts cross my mind each day. I have always considered myself to be a very positive person, and so I am ...
The practice of gratitude can increase happiness by 25% according to Dr. Robert Emmons, author of the book, Thanks! How the New Science of Gratitude Can Make You Happier. In his research, he found that grateful people experience higher levels of positive emotions, cope better with stress, recover more quickly from illness, and benefit in greater physical health.
I don’t know how true that this saying is but I have heard that snakes can’t stand altitude. They story goes that a pilot was flying a plane only to discover that it was filled with rattlesnakes after he had taken off. When he called the control tower his instructions were to go higher because snakes can’t stand altitude.

Few people love humanity, but few of them can do whatever possible to serve humanity. Portuguese Pro wrestler Cory Machado is one of those outstanding personalities who has done a tremendous job of helping the needy and feed them to fight hunger. Since childhood, he has seen his grandfather smiling, which gave him a strong reason to maintain that smile. On this way, to fight hunger, he is helping families with meals. He hasn't done it for fame; instead, he has done the same i
Cory Machado , a man who is getting immense popularity today, is still looking to fulfill many dreams. Interestingly the dreams are not his own; instead, other's who are struggling to get adequate food to survive and stay alive to work hard for their better tomorrow. Cory wasn't fascinated by pro wrestling until he watches an American Pro wrestling championship on TV
Do you know of the Yes Program? Let me share this with you and how it came into my life. One of my dearest friends, Suz, used this as a lifestyle tool for herself as long as I had known and cherished her. Suz introduced this wonderful tool to me one time when I called her for a reflection and some clarity on a situation in my life that remained cloudy no matter how I looked/felt into it. Since we are all connected in this wondrous Universe, that is really not as we perceive i
Changing habits mentally to change your way of life towards fulfilling your potential. Identifying and overcoming the hidden habits that are holding you back. What is a habit? We all know it is automatic behaviour without the need for thought, and changing habits is not easy. But are there not varying degrees of habit? Some are small and really have little effect. Scratching our head when confused, nail biting. Others have an effect on us. Smoking. I fancy a smoke and before

How to overcome shyness? Two tips. Do not be scared of people. If this is easier said than done, use imagination. Firstly, what is shyness? One definition is a feeling of the fear of embarrassment. Perhaps more fully it can be defined as a feeling of apprehension or awkwardness experienced when a person is in proximity to other people, especially in unfamiliar situations. It sums up to a lack of confidence. Behind this is a fear of what others may think of us. Is it not said
I used to think the whole notion of inspiration was soft. I've now come to deeply understand it's not. Every great act and innovation in science/arts/society was done under the spirit of inspiration. And as a Leader Without a Title, may I suggest that you owe it to yourself to get your levels of inspiration to world-class. In so doing, you'll change the game. And elevate every thing you touch. When I was in my second year of college living on campus (at Columbia in NYC) with 4 suite mates, every time the phone rang, there was a race to answer it. Everyone wanted to be the guy to hear the âhelloâ on the other side just in case it was my friend Michael Jackson calling. Most of those days, Michael was holed up on top of the Four Seasons, roughly 60 blocks away from where I lived on the upper Westside of Manhattan just near Harlem. Iâd happily drift downtown, gai
Many people want to have things in their life. If you crave to bring certain things into your life, you have desires but first, you must appreciate what you currently have. For instance, donât focus on the negative aspects of your life because that is all you will get. However, if you focus on appreciation aspects of life, then you get more things to appreciate. Now the question becomes, âHow can I appreciate something I donât have?â You can do this by appreciating th
In working with clients as a family therapist, creativity coach and meaning coach I began to see the following recurring pattern: clients would quickly lose interest in activities, projects, relationships and careers that they had started with great enthusiasm. They would even lose interest in solving the pressing problems that had brought them to me. What was going on? Why were we as a species burdened by this debilitating penchant for starting things with great energy and p
I am living in a brand new landscape as of 2 weeks ago. Yet it is the same one where I have been living for almost 2 years. It is a beautiful landscape that is home to the smaller house where I live with my partner and my dog-child Ollie, the larger house of the man who owns the property, and a nice sized pool. It is surrounded by a wooden fence that provides both privacy and a spacious view of the sky, the surrounding mountains and the beautiful trees between us and the moun
journal writing can sometimes seem to corner you. While on most days, your pen scribbles without hesitation, sometimes you can't think of a thing to say. Or sometimes you have the opposite problem: there's so much you want to explore in your writing that you can't decide where to start. In these cases, using someone else's insightful words to encourage your own words to start flowing freely can be helpful. Keep your journal close at hand so that whenever you come across a t
One of my favorite books is Eat, Pray, Love, and I was so excited to see the movie, which just came out. What made it a real treat was that I went to the opening day with a group of women from Ladies Who Launch. Afterward, we gathered together to discuss the movie and what it awakened in each of us for our own lives. What does this have to do with business (besides the fact that I saw the movie on opening a day with a group of business women)? Through these three areas of Eat
Do not just wait for inspiration to simply fall into your lap or come simply knocking on your door! Well, the truth is, you merely cannot wait for things to happen to you. Youâve got to make a great effort to inspire yourself in order to live a vibrant and fulfilling life. And even the most well motivated and inspired individuals need some doses of inspiration every now and then or they will eventually lose their focus and most especially their vigor and zest for living. So
"On your marks!" The loudspeaker boomed throughout the pool and the arena. The contestants were poised, tight, and ready to pounce. "Get set!" Bang! The start gun exploded over the swimmersâ ears. Microseconds later the competitors hit the water, splashing their way toward the end of the pool. A few tense moments later, the declared winner was Shane Gould. The crowd went wild with excitement. The crowd was on their feet; their voices chanting Shane's name in unison congratu
I think one of the things that has made me successful in life is Iâm willing to do things that are not flattering. I have been willing to not have it âall together,â and to still believe I stood on a path that promised more security than any other road in the world. I left a fancy legal career and waited tables, yes, touched food, so I could explore my life and my writing. I counted my dimes and quarters. I lived in a tiny hat-sized apartment. I lived a life that did no
Setting healthy boundaries is a skill every parent needs! A familiar scenario unfolded at my playschool program, Magical Child. Josie wanted to go outside in her new shoes and her mama said, “No, it’s wet and muddy outside. You need to wear your boots.” “Please,” begged Josie. “No.” ...
When we become overwhelmed and things are not going as planned, it is natural to hold tighter to our goals and try to force things to go our way. In the process, we tie ourselves in knots, tensing our shoulders, jaws, and muscles throughout our bodies. Our mind tells us that this is how to get a firmer grip on a situation that feels out of control, but as we create knots in our bodies we are blocking the flow of our energy, exhausting ourselves by exerting more effort yet acc
A version of this post was first published on the blog Patricia's Wisdom on June 5, 2009. Many of us live ignoring our intuition and our dreams. And then we wonder why we're not happy. But as you can see by the story below, when we open ourselves up to our dreams, a lot more opens up for us than just the thing we're pursuing. Loving Myself, Loving Raul My story back when I was twelve-years-old. I had decided I was going to live in southern Europe and write. It always felt wro
Life is a continuous jou ey filled with endless future possibilities and future accomplishments. Yet many people think life is a destination, they achieve a certain plateau of success in their lives and begin to rest on their laurels. In other words they become complacent or content which is the foundation of mental, physical, spiritual, and professional atrophy and stagnation. They began to allow themselves to be stuck in a quagmire of mediocrity and self absorption.
"I've given up shaking hands, forever!" announced my friend E.Dan. He said it to a small group of friends at a pre-wedding party yesterday. And he meant it. He no long shakes peoples hands. Instead, E.Dan gives hugs. For the past five weeks, he has been retraining himself to not reach out his hand when meeting people. Instead, he shares his new philosophy and offers a hug. Men seem to have the most difficulty with this, he says, - like a fish out of water - however, once they
Today, like every other day, we wake up empty and frightened. Don’t open the door to the study and begin reading. Take down a musical instrument. Let the beauty we love be what we do. Wisdom comes from a variety of sources. It can come from experience, but it doesn't have to. Someone has said that an expert is a person who has made all the mistakes that can be made in a very narrow field. However, as we all know, the smart thing is to learn from OTHERS' mistakes so we don't have to make those mistakes personally. Or, if you're like me, you get to make mistakes is LOTS of fields, so you neither get to claim the title expert, nor learn things the easy way. A
Inspire confidence in others to command respect and loyalty. Developing the self belief and confidence needed to be a leader. One of the best ways to measure success is to look at ourselves through the eyes of others. Are we looked up to? Are we respected? Some of us are leaders, others are followers. The higher levels of success come from becoming a good leader. To get to the top we need the respect of others to perform our will. No one has ever reached the top solely by rel
During my time spent living in an ashram many years ago, I learned about taking "hukams" (which means "divine order") from the Siri Guru Granth Sahib which are the compilation of writings that the Sikhs consider their living guru. I have expanded my taking of hukams to included any inspirational book. Many mornings I have started my day by taking a hukam as a part of my daily sadhana or spiritual practice. A hukam is taken by choosing an inspirational book of your choice, suc

Today June 25, 2009 is truly a sad day. Today is the day that the world lost a legend as Michael Jackson passed away from a cardiac arrest. People may know him as a lot of things, some good and some bad: a singer, a songwriter, a dancer, an actor, a businessman, a father, a humanitarian, an ailing man, a troubled man, a child abuser. Whatever it is that you thought of MJ, there is no denying the influence he has had on music and millions of people all over the world. Just lik

What prompts a defining moment in life? Are we always aware of its significance? Some events are definitely easier to identify than others, such as a marriage, or the birth of a child. Others are less obvious.nnTake an innocent thought I happened to think more than twenty years ago. I was walking down the hallway at home when an innocuous little thought popped into my head: "Is this all there is? There has to be something more!" Nothing precipitated it... that I can remember.
I had a teacher at Cornell, Professor Frederick Marcham, who died in the middle of his 70th year â of teaching. He was 94 years old at the time he died and my mother had been his student too. Prof. Marcham was a cross between Socrates and Merlin because he helped us discover our own answers by showing us the magic in everyday things, like the way sunlight dances through tree leaves when caught by a spring breeze. I used to visit him after I graduated and heâd tell me abou

Our Shadow is a Friend We do seem to think of mystery as darkness, as fear. Mystery is interesting to read about but not to experience. Most of us understand that our fears don’t arise from our exte al environment but from within ourselves, our soul. Whether we like it or not, going within reveals our needs that are just beyond our fears. Many of us believe that we can read, study and learn without emotional upheaval and pain. We do the mental exercise of learning about oneself but we don’t feel our pain. Instead we turn on the TV, overeat, over drink, over exercise.
Military discipline can be administered in many ways and it is normally a harsh discipline when administered by the military. The military administers discipline as a make or break type proposition. The troop who makes it through military training has learned to adhere to and embrace this new lifestyle. Embracing it enables the troop to survive and even flourish in his military environment. Military discipline is all encompassing in that it is designed to touch every aspect of the life of the soldier. When the soldier enters the military all vestiges of the old life are removed.
The world is made up of different individuals. No two people are exactly the same in any respect. This is the thing which makes life so wonderful and interesting. Your personality is the way that you think and act and it is unique to you. Experience plays a big part in personality development and no two people have the same experiences in life. Our personality is shaped by the things that we see and do from the time that we are born into this world. It is also shaped by the everyday encounters that we have in life.
Working out of this brain concussion from being hit by the car is a very challenging experience. I have always had great confidence in my strong, bright, quick mind and really have taken my brain for granted all of my life. I have a completely different perspective on life after this event. I was leaning on my husbandâs arm fighting the dizziness heading for our car taking slow tentative steps when we saw the elevator was out. The tears streamed down my face as my heart beg
I was inspired to write this by a series of events that occurred over the past week or so and when the Muse speaks, what choice do I have, but to oblige? This morning, I received from my old (well, age-less, but long term) friend Scott Kalechstein, his monthly e-muse letter. In it, he beautifully thanked a mutual friend named Stephen Feig. He started out the article in this way: “Did you ever have anyone think so highly of you that you avoided them at all costs?

There are a multitude of self-help books in the marketplace that speak to the idea of self-acceptance, self-worth, self-love -- in fact, I've authored two of them! And with that in mind, I have to say that Howard Glasser's new book You Are Oprah: Igniting the Fires of Greatness can and does 'ignite the fires within.' In You Are Oprah , Howard Glasser speaks to how you can step into a new world of radical appreciation and greatness, shift your energy to recreate the life and r
If you're a blogger, you understand what I mean when I say some days, it just doesn't work. The ideas don't come together, the words aren't flowing, and you just don't have the pizazz needed to put together something witty, clever, informative, or at the very least, useful enough that someone will read through to the end of your piece. But, there's always inspiration to be found somewhere in some way. Use this opportunity to try your hand at something new, to explore venues o
In part one of this article, I wrote about the reading environment you should create to help your child become a better reader. But what about how you should actually be reading? First, some good news, DON’T WORRY, you cannot do it wrong. As long as you read to your child, it’s good. You cannot mess this up.

It seems almost silly to have to say it, but to improve at anything practice is almost always essential. Right? Even if you want to get good at doing nothing, you still need to do a lot of it! Most people know that if you want to be physically fit, you need regular exercise. If you want a university degree, youâll need to study and apply yourself.
