THIS IS YOUR LIFE
Once upon there was a British television show: This is Your Life! which put under the microscope a real-life person when friends, family, associates would appear and rebuild the person’s life bit by bit in front of viewers. A highly popular show, the presenter with the aid of a Big Red Book revealed intimate details, surprising facts and heart-warming tit bits from the guest’s journey of life. Pretend that it is your turn to appear on an episode, imagine what people would say about you. Have you embraced life and dreamt the biggest dreams, have you got passionate about yourself and what you can give to the world?

WHAT IS IN YOUR BIG RED BOOK?
No job or stuck in a less than perfect job! Is that your current situation in life? If it is then you need to get out of the rut. How to do this? Add a new hobby and make job hunting your serious hobby and pastime. This is the antidote to no job or a job you feel is like being on a train to nowhere. Start by dreaming big dreams and get satisfaction from this time and effort. Make this dream so big that you must bring it to life!

GET A JOB AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AND THEN WORK FOR THE DREAM JOB
Get a job first, any job even if it is not your dream job. Secure a job first and then have the hobby and pastime of serious job hunting, networking and career building. Time consuming this is, but it is a necessary part of life if you need to work and most of us do need a job.

JOB HUNTING IS A FACT OF LIFE
1. AVOID DEBT.
Bless the job you have because it pays the bills and keeps you from falling too much in debt. A job makes you more employable. Let’s say the only job you can find is flipping burgers at McDonald’s I would still say take it because McDonald’s is a whole industry in itself with all manner of jobs available. You would be amazed at the opportunities for supervisors, marketers, IT personnel and managers within the McDonald’s organization. Just get into a door, any door and then work on yourself from there.

2. TRANSFERABLE SKILLS
Working in a team, meeting deadlines and keeping commitments probably all need polishing, so use this time to hone as many transferable skills as you can. If you are in customer service, perfect that willing, helpful smile, for example. Another key transferable skill is flexibility, so here is your opportunity to be flexible.

3. LESSER OPPORTUNTIES
Settling for less is only bad if it kills your dreams. Get into a frame of mind that will keep your dreams alive. Making job searching your serious hobby is one way to keep the dream alive. Look upon every situation as a strategic move designed to enhance you as a person, increase your employability, expand your network, hone your skills and pay the bills. Then you may have made the smartest career move of your life.

4. DOSE OF REALITY
All jobs have their plus points and their downsides, so you might as well take that job and not hold out for something that is not real. All you can do is get to as near as what you consider to be your dream job. To a certain extent, if we are employees we should make life-long job hunting our permanent hobby throughout our working life.

BLESSINGS FOR BUILDING SUCCESSFUL CAREERS
B: Build your life from dreams to reality. Build bridges from dreams to reality by solid action in the real world.
L: Learn transferable skills, and think transferable skills at all times.
E: Engines of growth are jobs. Engage your creative juices to pick up as many transferable skills as you can.
S: Sing a song of sustainable success. Smart moves include taking a less than perfect job, consolidating and building a good reputation but then at the right time, moving up.
S: Stepping stones lead on to success, so use your existing situation or job as a stepping stone and building block to a better job.

Y: You will find a job more easily, if you already have a job. This may seem to be a lesser opportunity, but it may be the smartest move you have made if you make this job a successwhile at the same contining to search for better opportunities.
O: Opportunities come to those who work to create opportunities. Open your mind to opportunities and maximize them. Offering your talents can also lead onto success, so examine what you can offer and then work to multiply it.
U: Unexpected opportunities often arise at a short notice, so make sure you are ready for when the big one comes.
