If you have problems with recurrent ear infections, you simply cannot afford to compromise your recovery by having a buildup of toxins in your system. Detoxifying your body through liver and gastrointestinal cleansing is a great start to treating ear infections and building up your immunity. The average person can have up to 10 kg of trapped, undigested food fermenting in his or her gastrointestinal tract, and leaking toxins into their system. This puts an enormous strain on the liver, whose job it is to purify the blood. Toxins also affect the immune system whose job it is to keep infections at bay. Toxins in the body can contribute to fatigue, bloating, constipation and diarrhea, bad breath, devitalized skin, headaches, irritability and weight gain. Most sick people have bowel and liver problems, although sometimes they are not aware of it. However, if the bowel and liver don't get back to proper functioning, then all the therapies, supplements and treatments in the world won't help to regain good health.nnHow to eliminate toxins The first step to eliminating unhealthy toxins in your body is to do some gentle liver and bowel cleansing. Just starting with half a lemon squeezed into warm water on rising in the morning every day is a good step. Fiber may also be a valuable addition for optimal elimination. An adequate intake of fiber is essential to bind to toxins and carry them out of your body. Most digestion and absorption occurs in the first 12 hours after consuming the food. If waste matter in your bowel sits around for too long after this, then this matter ferments and toxins are reabsorbed into your bloodstream. It is not uncommon for people in our society to have intestinal transit times (how long the food takes to pass from mouth to anus) of 48 - 72 hours. For some people it is up to a week! You should be passing a stool motion at least once a day. A healthy transit time is under 24 hours. Drinking at least 8 glasses of pure water a day will help to flush out toxins and wastes from the body. If you don't like water you could try herb teas, soups, broths or freshly squeezed vegetable juices. Please do not rely on coffee, tea or alcohol for your fluid intake. These act as diuretics which leach out valuable vitamins and minerals from your body. If you are prone to constipation, then the addition of a small amount of cold pressed olive or linseed oil can also help the passage of food.n nUsing a cleansing supplement When you are over the acute early stage of an ear infection, I recommend you do a cleanse with one of the good liver and colon cleansers available on the market. A good liver cleanser may include St Mary's Thistle or milk thistle, dandelion, globe artichoke, and lipotropic agents like taurine, methionine and inositol. An effective bowel cleanser should include some anti-parasitic herbs like black walnut seed or citrus seed extract, plus fiber like psyllium and slippery elm powder. Drinking plenty of fluids, eating well, exercising gently and getting adequate sleep will optimize the results of your cleanse. Making a cleanse an annual ritual is a great idea to keep your immunity in tip top condition and keep ear infections at bay.
