End Recession Depression

Joblessness, loss of investments, and lack of available credit with no end in sight are all ingredients in creating recession depression. Top economists predict that the recession will deepen in 2009 and will begin recovery mid 2010. So, what can we do to keep ourselves optimistic during this incredible economic down turn. How do we stop Recession Depression?
Remember, This Is Temporary
All major problems seem like they can’t be resolved. Yet, history has shown us that recessions do end and the cycle of prosperity does begin again.
No one can confidently say when the recession will end or when prosperity will return. However, just remembering that the recession is temporary can starve depression of the hopelessness it feeds on. Look towards a better day in the future while taking care of what needs to be taken care of to get through today.
Take Actio
It is said that an idle mind is the devil’s playground. In other words, inactivity creates a void easily filled by fear, negativity and doubt. During a recession, inactivity is one of the worst things one can do, or not do in this case.
Get out there and get moving. Apply for 20 jobs a day. If you have a job, work to be the best at what you do. Find ways to save money on the products and services you currently consume. Turn your favorite hobby into a profit making business to increase cash reserves or to begin a new career. Productivity will give you too much to do to be depressed.
Let Go of Guilt
Whether you made a financial mistake or were the victim of someone else’s mistake, feeling guilty about it will not help. Guilt is a useless emotion. It does not allow you to repair the loss you suffered or to provide the education necessary to never experience it again. Guilt allows you to beat yourself up over what you should have, would have, or could have done in the past without taking any real action to change it.
Past experience can be a useful teacher, provided we focus on the lessons learned. Don’t beat yourself up needlessly over something that’s already happened. Instead, apply the lessons you learned to your present and future experiences. Too much guilt can be a pathway to depression.
Turn Off The News
People now follow news of the recession the way some people followed the Presidential Election. You have to remember that what headlines in the news are death, politics, the extraordinary, and fear. The recession is big news. Corporate greed, government response, the human stories of loss and adversity, and the stock market have all been streams of news that we just can’t escape.
A steady diet of this negative news will alter your perspective on what’s possible for the country, big business, the world stage, and your household. To avoid recession depression, you’ll need to limit or eliminate the constantly negative news that’s out there.
Find the Opportunities
Houses, cars, stocks, and franchises are just some of the things that are priced at a severe discount during this recession. There are opportunities everywhere to make major purchases for average money, or to create an opportunity that may not have been there before. Change your mindset from loss to opportunity.
One of the biggest opportunities lies in creating services for Baby Boomers. Baby Boomers are the largest segment of the United States population. Many Baby Boomers had plans to retire soon. Many of them have been affected by this recession. What goods and services would Baby Boomers need right now and how can you provide them? Also, there are a lot of job searchers on the market. Could you update their resume? Could you coach them on how to interview for jobs? Could you help others in their job searches?
Rather than focusing on what was loss, change your focus onto what can be created. Fortunes can be created during a recession with the proper mindset.
