Writers, politicians and regular folks have abused the word “phobia” a lot lately. It has been tacked onto every controversial idea in order to demonize people they disagree with. But let’s look at what “phobia” really means: an irrational fear. If you’re standing by a lake holding a golf club aloft on top of a barren hill in a rainstorm, and you’re afraid of being struck by lightning, is that a phobia? No. That’s a rational fear. If, however, you won’t leave the house on a sunny day for fear of being electrocuted, that’s an irrational fear.

If you avoid air travel because you’re terrified of plane crashes, that is, in fact, a phobia. This is because statistically you have a much better chance of getting in a car accident than being in a plane crash.

Another way to tell if a fear is a phobia is if it interferes with your life. If you’re so afraid of falling down the stairs that you never leave your bedroom, that’s a phobia. So based on these criteria, do you have any phobias?

You may have been told that you have to learn to live with your irrational fear. You may have consulted therapists with whom you discussed your fear endlessly without relief. You may have tried all sorts of things. Well, take heart. Energy therapy could be the cure you’ve been looking for.

According to "Energy Psychology: Theory, Indications, Evidence" by Joaquin Andrade, M.D. and David Feinstein, Ph.D.:

More than 29,000 patients treated at 11 allied clinics during a 14-year period were followed for at least one year after the termination of the therapy. In addition to lasting and strong treatment gains, numerous first round sub-studies using randomized, double-blind designs allowed comparisons of energy therapies with other treatments. The largest of these sub-studies included 2,500 patients with diagnosed anxiety disorders. They were treated using energy therapy but no anti-anxiety medication. These were compared with a matched sample of patients who were treated with Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and medication as needed. The result? The patients treated with energy therapy experienced more treatment gains than the CBT/medication-treated patients: The proportion of patients showing some improvement (90% energy vs. 63% CBT/M) and the proportion of patients showing complete remission of symptoms (76% energy vs. 51% CBT/M). In a related sub-study by the same research team, the length of treatment was appreciably shorter with energy therapy than with CBT/medication (mean = 3 sessions vs. mean = 15 sessions).

I have experienced energy therapy’s effectiveness in treating phobias first hand, and it’s superior to medication therapy because there are no side effects, it’s safe, effective and long lasting. And you play an active role in your own treatment!

Think it won’t work for you because you “don’t believe” in energy therapy? Studies have shown that it’s effective whether you believe or not. So give it a try, and you may find yourself phobia-free.
