Faith in Action - Dreams Can Come True

Henry David Thoreau said, "If one advances confidently in the direction of one's dreams, and endeavors to live the life which one has imagined, one will meet with a success unexpected in common hours" and I have found this to be true. There is power in action. Not undirected action or staying busy to avoid your feelings, but action toward your dreams.

We all have dreams. Some so buried or latent that we may not even remember what they are, but we all have dreams. Now is the time to take them out, dust them off and begin taking steps toward bringing them into reality.

The last time I got laid off, I did some soul searching and I remembered that I had always wanted to play the drums. Single, with no income and a mortgage and bills to pay, I didn't have the money to buy a drum set or for drum lessons. But I had a dream. So I asked myself, "What would you do if you didn't think it was impossible"? I knew I couldn't play drums without a drum set, so getting the drums was my first step. I didn't have money, but I did have furniture so I sold my couch and bought a used drum set. That took care of the drum set, but I still didn't know how to play. What I didn't realize at the time is my intentions and my faith in action set into motion a vibration that, by Universal law as real as gravity, must be responded to in kind.

That same week I met someone who was in a band of seasoned musicians who needed a drummer. By some miracle, they were willing to let someone into their band who had a drum set but didn't know how to actually play the drums!
I learned by ear, practiced diligently and we went on to paying gigs within a year. My dream had come true!

Dream making is like standing in front of a fireplace saying, "give me heat" before putting the wood in. Dreams can come true, but it is up to you to make the first move. We all have dreams. Pick one and this week take some action toward it and you will be met with success that you couldn't have imagined.
