Fear and panic are ruling right now. Are you buying into it? You don’t have to. It’s just a decision. The alte
ative is to let the economy, the financial world and the politicians do whatever they do and not buy into the drama.
Somewhere along the line somebody gave you the impression you had to get involved emotionally in all of this. Somewhere along the line you got sold on the idea you have to join in on all of these negative feelings, identify with them, make them part of your life.

You have to ask yourself. How does it help me to get all tangled up in negative feelings? Your mind will say, well, you have to. Your mind likes it because it gets you negative and that’s the mind’s pastime to get and keep you negative.

Let me assure you. You don’t have to get enmeshed in this drama. It’s just a decision. You can decide to get negative like most people and that makes you anxious, upset, angry and on and on. How does that help you? Of course, it does not do one positive thing for you. Decide to watch it from afar, unattached, neutral. Decide to be positive in spite of what’s happening.

OK, let’s say in some way what’s going on does directly affect you financially? Let’s say it does. How does it help you to go nuts about it? How does it help you to be scared and anxious? How does it help you to feel out of control about it? All those negative feelings do only one thing. They make you more negative. Does getting more negative fix anything? Does getting more and more negative improve anything? Of course, it does not.

All of this emotional and mental involvement only serves to spin you out into misery and suffering. Notice. Your suffering is not caused by what is happening out there. It's your attitude about it that is causing the pain you feel. Somebody a long time ago sold you, and you bought into, the idea of negative reaction. Something negative happens, go negative. You decided that was the thing to do. You decided it. You can change it.

You can decide to be positive in spite of what is happening. You decided to react negatively and get involved in the drama. You can just as easily decide to stand aside and let all that drama do what it does without your involvement.

The world needs to wake up. Nearly everyone has adopted a “bunker” mentality. Freak out, cover up and hide. Protect yourself with fear. The newsmakers who are fueling all this with continuous negative news get to be right. They’re selling everyone it’s going to hell in a hand basket. Most people believe that garbage. So, guess what, the news gets to be right.
Believe me. Your mind likes all of this negativity. The little man behind the curtain is rubbing his hands in glee about all of this. The negativity is spinning out of control.

But it does not have to be that way for you. You can decide. I am going to be positive in spite of what is happening out there. I can watch all this like a spectator in a stadium. Let them get muddy and bloody down on the field. Remain calm and at peace. Watch it without joining in. Be positive in spite of what is happening.

You can see it out in the world. Negative begets negative. Yes, and, positive begets positive. Those who are positive in spite of what is happening are getting more and more positive. As they do they are having more and more positive things happening in their lives---in spite of whatever is happening out there.
The way out of all this is up. Be positive in spite of what is happening.

Think about an Attachment and we may experience a nice warm-fuzzy feeling. We are of course attached to our family, our homes, our relationships, money, our beautiful stuff, and so forth. Think about an Aversion and what happens – instantly we are facing some resistance. If you are paying attention you’ll instantly notice a clutch indicating that there is something needing our attention. Larry Crane and the staff refer to “the clutch” as a pocket of negativity, ringing like a doorbell to get our attention.

Feeling good encompasses many things… Perhaps it is working on an incredible project – getting involved – being inspired. Maybe it is a sound, like the evening rain gently caressing the window while you are sleeping. Maybe feeling good is being at your ideal weight or having a certain amount of money. And maybe, feeling good is the way life is meant to be at all times.

Although uncontrolled anger can be quite costly, when channeled properly anger can also be very positive. Among other things, anger can motivate us to work harder to accomplish our goals. This could mean playing harder on the defensive end in a basketball game, studying longer for an exam, or putting in more time when learning to play an instrument. Anger can sometimes lead to newer, higher level goals, possibly fueled by the desire to prove others wrong.
