Whether you are just beginning a new life together, have celebrated your 35th Anniversary or are still looking for your significant other, Feng Shui will help you create the foundation for a joy filled relationship. For young couples starting new homes, and those who’ve been married for years, use home décor that emphasizes the building of and continued growth of relationships filled with romance, respect and rapport. Having and maintaining good equal relationships are a very real problem for many. In fact, couple relationships are the most talked about issue on daytime television. The one helpful area people often overlook in this process is the use of positive energy in their personal surroundings. Does your personal environment support you in your desire to have a permanent long term relationship filled with romance, respect and rapport? nnEvaluate “Relationship Energy” at Home and Take ActionnnFirst, review your time commitments to see what messages are being sent symbolically to your mate? Have you made room for him or her in your life? Or, is your calendar so cluttered with work, organizational events and chosen activities that there is no time for a respectful, romantic relationship? nnSolution: unclutter your calendar to make ample time for your mate to feel important in your life. Spend together-time regularly, schedule it on your calendar and keep those commitments to each other.nnSecond, take a close look at your personal décor. What messages are you sending to your mate? Are the pictures on the walls all of eighteenth century women in period clothing, solitary beach scenes or void of anything sensuous or coupleness? Perhaps your wall décor is of sports teams, martial arts or your favorite classic cars but in no way symbolic of the relationship you seek. nnSolution: use artwork for your walls, especially the southwest relationships area of your bedroom and living/family room, which depicts coupleness and sensuous or romantic relationship energy. You might look for fruit such as two luscious pears sensually leaning toward each other, two hearts intertwined or two beautiful flowers snuggled side by side. nnThird, what do your wall colors and styles of furniture say about your desire to have a relationship filled with romance, respect and rapport? Is it stark black and white with lots of hard unwelcoming edges? The hard sharp edges and lines are good for an office but not for great relationships at home. Or maybe your furniture and décor might be too homey, comfortable and cluttered with lots of pillows and too many soft earthy colors. This kind of décor can make a mate feel trapped and uncomfortable with no place to spend time together.nnSolution: use color and shape to balance your décor. Wall colors in bedrooms should be pastel to encourage rest, relaxation and romance. The colors most conducive to equal loving relationships are peach, pink, light green and soft earth tones. If you like hard lines and a black and white décor, soften it with some lush soft velvet pillows and a cashmere throw in pink or peach. If your home is too soft, maybe too feminine, eliminate some of those pillows on the bed, sofa and chairs so there is ample empty space for your mate to sit, snuggle and linger awhile without feeling like he or she is being suffocated and trapped.nnFourth, if your 65? flat panel plasma HD wide screen, the necessary electronic equipment with speakers and a sofa are the only things in your living room, a mate, unless they want to watch television or play electronic games 24/7, may not feel welcome or romantic. On the other hand, if your home looks so perfect that one feels he or she cannot sit down anywhere comfortably and stay a while, they will not want to stay.nnSolution: create balance by using opposites. If your furnishings are high tech and somewhat unwelcoming to a non-techie, add some upholstered furniture, pillows and softly draped window treatments. If you home looks too perfect, tie back the window treatments to soften the room with sunshine. Add a casually tossed throw, pastel pillows and use some soft torchiere lighting to encourage comfort and some casualness.nnCreate a Bedroom Sanctuary If you want a relationship filled with romance, respect and rapport, energize your surroundings to support your desires. Begin by uncluttering your bedroom. To create a sanctuary for rest, relaxation and romance, the bedroom needs to be roomy, filled with only those things that speak of coupleness and be a retreat from the outside world. Remove everything from the bedroom that does not meet these criteria, including workout equipment and computers. After making sure the southwest relationship’s area of your bedroom is clutter free, energize it by placing something there that is symbolic for both of you of the kind of relationship you want - a picture of two people in a loving relationship walking hand in hand on the beach or a sculpture of a loving couple embracing. Select pictures for your bedroom together so they provide each of you the same loving energy. You can also use two of your favorite flowers equal in size and height either intertwined or leaning toward each other placed in a bud vase to create the same coupleness energy. Remove all pictures of parents and children from this area. The bedroom is for coupleness energy, not family energy. Place a lovely healthy green upward reaching plant in the east area of your bedroom. This will energize new beginnings, rapport and help you grow and thrive with your new found equal relationship. As the plant thrives and grows upward into maturity, so will your love and respect for each other. If the plant becomes unhealthy in any way, promptly discard and replace it.nnFocus Energy on Your Relationship One additional way to focus energy on creating a relationship filled with romance, respect and rapport is to locate and unclutter the center area of your home. Place a candle there with two wicks in a safe container and burn it at least once every week for at least one hour. By being located in the center of your home your loving relationship will also become the central energy of your home. Creating a romantic, respectful relationship filled with rapport is no different in Feng Shui than focusing energy on other goals and objectives like good health or abundance. You need to decide that it is important enough to you to focus your energy on it regularly – then do it.n n© Pat Heydlauff, all rights reserved 2009

According to the National Association of Professional Organizations, research shows a direct correlation between productivity and clutter. When clutter and chaos are on the rise, profits and productivity decline. While the mantra of the day may be "go paperless" that doesn't mean your computer should take over your life, become electronic clutter and take control of your time while you become less efficient, effective and productive. A clutter-free desktop reduces stress and frustration while increasing concentration and creative thinking.
