Dog barks for so many reasons.They bark to warn us when they feel danger, similar with humans, they use their voice to express themselves through their barks. Some dogs have an excessive barking problem and some dogs rarely make a sound. What do you do if your a dog owner who unfortunately has a barking problem when it comes to their furry friend? Here are some tips you can use to stop annoying and excessive dog barking. First things first, understand you can not control when your dog barks. You have to be accepting of the fact that you don't have complete control of when your pet barks, however, there are some things you can do to decrease the amount of barking your dog does.

When your dog barks, you need to pay attention to WHY your four legged friend is barking in the first place. Your dog could be barking because he is scared, threatened, surprised, or for any other reasons. The important thing is to figure out what and why he is barking.T

Socialize your furry friend with other dogs. You may seem a little uneasy about this, but socializing your pet with other dogs will help your pet get used to being in the company of others. pretty similar to facing your own fears, you have to face your problem head on to overcome it. Your dog is not used to being around other dogs. By allowing your pet pooch to meet other furry friends, your canine friend will slowly get used to not being the only canine he knows exist.

Next, your pet will evidently bark at the other dogs. When your pet does this, tell him "no barking" in a firm voice. Make sure the tone of your voice is firm and strong. keep doing this until your dog eventually stops. When your furry friend stops, reward him with a treat or praise. Every time your pet barks at another dog, use your cue word and don't forget to reward him when he does stop. Your pet will soon associate barking at other animals as an unacceptable behavior.

This will take a lot of practice and time, so why not taking your furry pet to a place where he has many opportunities to meet other dogs. Take him to a dog park, go for walks and so forth. Don't forget, you need to keep your body language calm to prevent stressing and tensing up your four legged friend. Dogs are very intuitive with our body language and tone in our voices.

Keep in mind, that some dog have a distinct bark for certain barks. If your dog feel threatened or danger near by, your dog may use a low bark, similar to a growl. If your pet is excited than his barks will be short and high. When your dog is trying to alert you, he will usually use quick and high barks.
