One of the most important things you can do to when incorporating exercise into your life is to include a variety of activities that keep you moving. Mixing it up and keeping your body on it’s toes is one way to work toward your health and fitness goals and desires. Including an assortment of different movements in your routine helps you to stay motivated and in turn your body responds to it’s challenge and provides you with the results you are so diligently working toward.
Experts believe, and I am one of them, that it takes the human body anywhere between 8-12 weeks to adjust itself to an exercise program. During this time period your body settles into a routine and becomes very comfortable with how you are asking it to perform. You begin to notice that the pattern you have created in the fitness department is not producing the results that you were hoping for anymore. Although you continue to reap health benefits, body changes and weight loss are not being seen in a timely manner. This can lead to a barrage of issues:
~Boredom in your exercise routine. ~Lack of enthusiasm to work out and perhaps ending your movement. ~Status quo in the weight loss department and/or possible weight gain. ~Wear and tear on the continuously called upon body parts. ~Physical injury due to overuse of specific body parts.
There are a great number of exercise paths to select from; why be monotonous? So ask yourself, “What does my training schedule look like? Am I creating a pattern of movement that duplicates itself day after day, week after week?” Variety is the key to success and continued results, so make sure you keep that sexy body of yours on it’s toes wondering what is going to be asked of it next. Grab a flyer from your gym; ask friends what they like to do for exercise. When your body faces new challenges, it wakes up, it makes a difference and you reap the benefits in the long run. So what will you do differently today?
