When skin is damaged by UV exposure two conditions can occur: hyperpigmentation, and hypopigmentation. The first, hyperpigmentation, is the occurance of dark “sunspots” that form as the body produces melanocytes that absorb the UV radiation and prevent it from causing damage to the deeper layers of skin. Hypopigmentation occurs after a trauma to the skin, and yes, overexposure to sun counts as a trauma. I don’t know about you but the word meditation by it self used to intimate me like crazy. I had this picture of a yoga master “humming” away and I was thinking I can’t do that! If you look at these “quick fixes”, you find there are major long-term problems with all of them. And they really don’t even work in the short term. We buy into the promises – and hopefully live to regret it.
I think the concept of Faticide is worth expanding upon. In fact, I believe, it should become part of our lexicon. Faticide is a word I made up. It means the willful killing of self and/or another human being by consuming, enabling and condoning excess Fat. There can be premeditated, first degree Faticide. There can be involuntary Fat slaughter. You get the point. I think it is criminal for a society to idly ignore the health of its citizenry.
If there’s one thing that you could hone in on during your trials and tribulations in the health, wellness and weight loss department it would be the ability to stay calm, take one day at a time and be willing to allow yourself the time needed to make a difference in your life.
