The last ten years have brought a dramatic shift in thinking. We are realizing our bodies do not have to get sick, life does not have to be a struggle and relationships do not have to be painful. With this realization comes the question, “How do we change what we don’t like about our lives?”

The first thing is to accept responsibility for everything just as it is in life. Until you do, you will not be able to change anything because you will be expecting the solution to come from the person you feel is to blame. Expecting mom, your partner, God or the guy next door to fix it causes anger or hurt when it doesn’t happen. It also causes you to slip into feeling like a victim. A victim is one who has lost his power and no longer has the ability to make changes.

If this happens often enough we lose parts of ourselves and don’t even realize it. These lost pieces can be freedom, confidence, time, money, self-worth, peace, joy, youth, ability to choose, health - anything that when gone diminishes us or our life experience.

People can lose power when experiencing traumas such as job layoff, foreclosure, war, abuse, death of a loved one, accidents, surgery, etc. On a daily basis, individuals also give away or lose power to jobs, family, friend, doctors, their church or government. They give themselves to jobs in order to have the security of a paycheck and to family and friends so they will be liked, needed and accepted. They give their power to doctors because they don’t want or don’t know how to keep their bodies healthy. They want the clergy to intercede to God for them and the government to protect and provide for them. In doing this, they have to ask what they are giving up in the process. What is being asked of them in return for the protection, intercession, money or acceptance? Will it allow them to live in true joy, peace, love and freedom?

Healing from power loss is not difficult. Healing is a natural part of life. It need not be hard or complicated. Once we have accepted responsibility, stepping out of victimhood requires two things. We have to retrieve what has been taken or lost – we have to claim our power. In order to do this, we use the quantum principle of intention. We intend that any pieces of our power we have lost, given away or had taken return to us. This can be done every day as more pieces will come back each time you do it. You can make your statement in prayer, meditation or standing in the shower – it matters not – there are no rules.

The second step is also done through your intention. It is to let go of anything that does not belong to you. Let it go back to whoever owns it. This includes responsibility you have taken on that is not yours to carry. In the same manner, you can also release anger, fear, guilt, blame or shame.

Using these fast, easy, effective, alchemical processes allows you to clear inner wounds and claim the power that is rightfully yours. As you retrieve your lost parts and release what is not yours, you will find that life flows more easily and you live in joy and peace.
