Attending high conflict parenting classes or co-parenting classes tends to be a requirement for parents who are about to get divorced, in many states. It was during the 1990s, when it first became a requirement in the states of Florida, Texas and Califo
ia for parents to take parenting classes before divorcing. Attending these classes eventually became a requirement for parents who are divorcing in 28 states by 2001.

At that time, many parents took this as an offense and felt as if this was questioning their parenting skills. No doubt, high conflict parenting classes help teach effective co-parenting skills to divorcing parents, and this is the reason that these parenting classes were later named co-parenting classes. Divorcing parents get to learn how to parent their children cooperatively while attending these classes.

These classes also help the parents develop a new relationship with each other and move forward with effectively co-parenting their children. Certain parenting strategies are also included in these classes that help parents improve their existing parenting skills.

Co-parenting classes also teach the parents how their children can be affected by the divorce. Along with learn parenting strategies and techniques to effectively parent their children, parents are also able to identify their parenting style while attending these classes. These classes also teach parents how they can enhance their communication skills with their children and cope with anger.

No doubt, a divorce can be quite painful, both of parents and children. However, co-parenting classes teach parents to cooperate with each other, despite their emotions, so that they can parent their children as effectively as possibly.

By attending these classes, parents are able to balance out their responsibilities as parents and work through the divorce issues. These classes teach parents to avoid giving their emotions too much attention and to start focusing on their children. The skills that divorcing parents learn at these classes are often very new for them.

While these classes are designed for parents and to teach them to cooperate with each other, however, the main focus of these classes are the children. The new relationship that the divorcing parents are taught to develop ultimately proves beneficial for their children.

These high conflict parenting classes help teach effective co-parenting skills, which include techniques such as stress reduction, anger management, methods to avoid conflict and raise self esteem. Parents are also explained how their children might react to the new that their parents are divorcing, if they have still not been informed about it. Approaches to discipline, punish, raise, understand the behavior of children and fulfill their needs are also taught to parents as well.

One of the latest forms of co-parenting classes is the ones that are offered online, and they tend to be even more beneficial. They are more convenient since parents can attend them directly from home, and they offer more sense of privacy to the parents as well. For parents who are considering getting divorced soon, attending online co-parenting classes help them avoid conflict and cooperate with each other to effectively parent their children.

Think about an Attachment and we may experience a nice warm-fuzzy feeling. We are of course attached to our family, our homes, our relationships, money, our beautiful stuff, and so forth. Think about an Aversion and what happens – instantly we are facing some resistance. If you are paying attention you’ll instantly notice a clutch indicating that there is something needing our attention. Larry Crane and the staff refer to “the clutch” as a pocket of negativity, ringing like a doorbell to get our attention.

Although uncontrolled anger can be quite costly, when channeled properly anger can also be very positive. Among other things, anger can motivate us to work harder to accomplish our goals. This could mean playing harder on the defensive end in a basketball game, studying longer for an exam, or putting in more time when learning to play an instrument. Anger can sometimes lead to newer, higher level goals, possibly fueled by the desire to prove others wrong.
