Chakra's - A Beginner's Guide
Written by Patty Holley
Chakras are the energy centers of the body. Our body is merely a physical vehicle for our soul (or our spiritual being) and our personality and the chakras reflect the energy balance (or imbalance) between our bodies and souls. Each of the seven chakras represent an aspect of our personality.
The Seven Chakras
The first chakra is the base (or root) chakra and is located at the base of the spine. This chakra is our grounding chakra and keeps us connected to the earth.
The second chakra is located on the spine just above the first chakra. It governs creativity and sexuality - and your attitude towards relationships.
The third chakra is located on the spine at the level of the solar plexus and it governs the liver, stomach and spleen. It is the clearinghouse for emotional sensitivities and issues of personal power.
The fourth chakra is the heart chakra. It governs the heart and circulatory system. It is also connected to the emotion of love and is an area for our personality to express itself.
The fifth chakra is the throat chakra. It governs the lungs and vocal cords. It is also the center of expression, communication and judgement.
The sixth chakra is located in the center of the forehead and is also known as the third eye. It governs the lower brain and nevous system. Idealism, imagination, inner vision and access to limitless potential of thought is accessed through this chakra.
The seventh chakra is located at the top of the head and governs the upper brain. This is the chakra that connects with unlimited (or Divine) consciousness.
These chakras are associated with colors and pictured as a moving ball of energy. I have heard different colors associated with different chakras.
Keep them clean!
Since the chakras govern the smooth flow of energy in, out and within the body - it is important to keep them free of blockage. Blockage is created by unexpressed emotions, anger and fear. Chakras are 'opened' and 'cleasned' through meditation. I suggest a meditation tape for beginners that will take you through each chakra step by step. nnn
