There are so many people who would just read the headline of this article and already know that they are unhappy at their job. They feel trapped at their job and with not many prospects to get them to move onto their next assignment. The economy has made a lot of people in the workforce feeling helpless to the mercy of employers and managers that do not fully utilize their workforce effectively. There are a segment of workers that are on the fence that are still trying to discover what makes them happy at their job. They are looking for some insight to help them better understand their employment situation a bit better by putting it in perspective. We are hoping that this article will help shed some light on the common signs that can help you better understand if you are unhappy at your job and that it may be time to start putting your resume on a job portal. We will discuss these signs in detail to help prepare you to anticipate when it is time to start looking for a new job.
When every day feels like a Monday
One of the top signs that you can tell when you are unhappy is when you wake up in the morning on a Monday and it is time to get ready for work. As with most people, you may have the Monday blues and probably still wondering how fast the weekend just flew by. You struggle to get dressed and you are running late for the office. You get into your car and drive to the highway to find yourself stuck in rush hour traffic. You get into the office about 20 minutes late and you are hoping that no one notices. If you feel like this every day when you go to work then this is a good indicator that you are unhappy at your job. One of the toughest things for people is to work at a job in which they do not enjoy the work they do.
Never eat lunch with your co-workers
Another sign that you are unhappy is when you are having difficulty making friends at the office. People have a need to feel that they are part of something great and are social with their co-workers. When you do not have any friends at the office and feel like that you are working in a vacuum then this could make you feel miserable. We spend most of our time at the office and to just perform work and not doing any socializing is not healthy or productive. A part of moving up in the organization is not only the talent that you bring to your job but how well you are integrated in a team environment. When you are not involved in team activities then the chances are that senior managers will not promote you to a position of leadership despite your talent. This is a good sign that you need to start looking for a new job or make some changes to get your career back on track.
