Now a day people are becoming aware that what we think affects our health. Many of the physical disease are results of emotional issues. Lots of people are becoming the victim of so-called psychosomatic disease. This is nothing but mental imbalance. Person thinks that he is not well even though he is perfectly fine.

"I am still determined to be cheerful and happy, in whatever situatio
I may be; for I have also learned from experience that the greater part of our happiness or misery depends upon our dispositions, and not upon our circumstances." - Martha Washington

In today’s world almost everyone is having some or other stress and we all know that stress is not good for our health. Positive thinking is not about avoiding difficult situations of life, but it is about facing it with confidence that it will get over soon. It is about reacting to unpleasant situation in positive way.

"The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind." William James

Stress is the belief that we are at risk and our nervous system start reacting to that. For short run it might be OK, but if it becomes habit, then we become the victim of fear. The person who is always in fear does not have mental balance and which ultimately affects physical health. For exa: A person thinks that he might get heart attack which will keep him in fear of death. He starts thinking that he is actually ill.

Thinking is considered as medicine. The best example is placebo effect. People get cured by sugar pills. It is not the pill, but the belief that cures them. If you think you've been given a drug that will make you better, often that is enough to make you better. Many times for small disease we don’t like to take medicines from unknown doctors. We are so comfortable that our family doctor will cure us. This thinking helps us; otherwise both doctors will give you almost the same medicines for same disease.

We have seen that some people have overcome dangerous diseases very soon. We say that he got good will power. Similarly when we see a person who is not recovering, we think that he does not have strong will power. We even say that person himself does not want to get cure. When person has positive attitude, he has better energy to fight against disease. Lance Armstrong has given a great amount of credit to positive attitude for his recovery and he is still inspiring many people like Yuvraj Singh (Indian cricketer who got recovered from cancer) Somewhere in our mind we knew that positive thinking helps in better health, but it is just that we haven’t seen it as a medicine.

“Knowledge is power, community is strength and positive attitude is everything” — Lance Armstrong

In conclusion positive thinking helps in two ways, it can help in reducing stress, which is the major reason of disease. Second it can help to improve your energy to fight against existing Illness. Please keep in mind that many times it is better to combine positive thinking with medicines and do not stop any medication without consulting your doctors.
