We are so happy when we fall in love and cannot understand why our world comes to a standstill when the love of our life decides to walk out on us. Something in us refuses to accept the fact that our relationship has come to an end. We start working ourselves up in a frenzy, cry, plead, argue and end up weeping and frightened of being alone. How many of us have gone through these stages in our lives? Love is inexplicable. It takes you to the highest pinnacle of joy and drops you with a thud when you least expect it. Some of us are lucky and do not have to go through this. This could be because we made the right choice and the person we have fallen in love with also has the same qualities and expectations. How to stop being in love with someone who has left you for another? Stop mooning and smell the coffee! The first thing to do is to stop anguishing and obsessing. Take the time to look back and see where things went wrong. You will find out that there were many negative characteristics that you had overlooked because you were so caught up in the euphoria of “being in love”. Yes, if you were alert, you would have noticed the tell-tale signs that your ex was just not good enough for you. You may have been the one to always give in when there was an argument or decision to make. Your ex may have felt claustrophobic when you did not give them enough space. Of course your intentions were pristine – you wanted to spend as much time as you could in their company! Keep busy - Get involved in some activity that keeps you busy and does not give you time to brood. You may have enjoyed the love showered on you when you were physically involved with your partner. This may have lulled you into a false sense of security that your partner would never leave you for another. Remember that sex and physical attraction is not enough to sustain a good relationship. Love and sexual desires are two separate definitions and do not always go hand in hand. Over a period, the intensity of your feelings for your ex will decrease as you start seeing the light. You will look back and analyze the negative aspects of your ex. You may continue to hurt but at the back of your mind, you will secretly feel pleased that you are getting over your ex. You will realize how to stop being in love with someone who would never have kept you happy in the long run. Pay attention to your looks - Start exercising and get into a routing of physical fitness. This will help you to feel good and when you see that you are losing that extra flab and fitting into clothes that make you look stunning, you will be ready to face the world again. Do not hesitate to catch up with old friends and confide in someone you trust. This will make you feel better as the bottled up emotions are slowly released. Once you realize you are free from any strings that held you to your past, you will be ready to meet someone new. When you are attracted to someone, you will inadvertently be looking for someone who will love you for yourself. Make sure never to repeat the same mistakes and to learn from the past ones. Do not compare the new with the old but make every effort to forge ahead with your new love on a path that sustains the test of time.
