When you start your own business, there is no question that time is the most valuable resource you've got. This is especially true when it's a home based, network marketing business and you'll see why this is so in just a moment. How you use your time will dictate your level of business success or, for that matter, failure. Here are 3 different ways your time can be utilized. If you are not maximizing this most precious resource then you're doing yourself a great injustice. Here are the 3 things you can do with your time:
  • Invest it
  • Spend it
  • or Waste it
The following examples are offered with your workday in mind not necessarily evenings or weekends. Learning how to succeed in your network marketing business will require you to invest time in your education. This is the most important thing you can do with your time. The number one reason why most new MLM businesses fail is because the people who get involved lack the skills necessary for success. These skills can include marketing, effective communication, copy writing and budgeting. Investing your time means setting aside a few hours each and every day to learn the skills necessary for steady, long term business development and growth. Nobody was born an expert at anything. They become expert by investing time in learning business building skills. Whenever you invest something, whether it's money, time or whatever, you're doing so with the expectation of a higher value payoff at some point in the future. Invest time in learning today for MLM success tomorrow. Then there's spending time. We all have to spend a certain amount of our time so make sure you're spending yours wisely. Some examples of spending time will include sorting and responding to email or dealing with necessary business paperwork. It's impossible to use every bit of your time during the day at maximum efficiency. A certain amount of it will have to be spent, there's just no way around it. When you do spend your time, do so wisely. Then of course there's wasting time. This is what most people do with the majority of their time and this is the reason why most people will fail in their network marketing business. Examples of wasting time include pursuing people who are not good, qualified prospects for your business, surfing the internet aimlessly or making personal phone calls during working hours. Remember that everything you've just read relates to your Monday through Friday workday schedule. There is plenty of time at night or on weekends for web surfing, personal phone calls or whatever else is necessary to make life a little fun. We're all human, we can't possibly always utilize 100% of our time wisely. All I'm suggesting is that you jealously guard and wisely use the time you have during your workday. Additionally, these may very well be the most important words you'll ever read as it relates to succeeding in your MLM business: never, under any circumstances, freely give your time away to others. Your network marketing success will come about as the result of building a strong organization of distributors. It is your responsibility to work with the people you'll be recruiting to help them along in their business building efforts. Make sure those people you choose to work with are serious about building a business of their own. Nothing will drive you to failure more quickly than working with tire kickers. They will sap your energy faster than any other single thing. You can help to pull people toward success but you will never be able to push them into success.
