1. A hug that’s followed by a thump on the back

A thump on the back above or below shoulders is more of a friendly or ” hey how you been ” hug. This is an indication of discomfort with hugging you or with your closeness. However not all back thumping is negative and can be difficult to analyze the precise reason.

2. A crushing bear hug

A crushing bear hug can be a more intense variation of a hug. This hug can be his way of outwardly demonstrate the amount of love he has for you. Unless you dislike or object to this type of hug periodically, I’d say enjoy! It sure beats receiving a floppy, half-hearted attempt of a hug, isn’t it?

3. A hug from behind

A hug from behind are romantically inspired. Where one person from behind wraps their arms around the other, it carries sexual connotations and can be intimate.
All in all, regardless of the type of hug you give or receive, a hug is a hug and it carries emotional benefits. Hugs can be heartwarming, therapeutic and give the effect of leaving one energized and rejuvenated.
