I have a headache.
Let me see now. Please allow me a couple of wild guesses. You’ve been upset by the stock market. Up 500, down 500. That’s enough to give anyone a headache if they’re thinking about it all the time.
Here’s another guess, you’re upset, maybe angry about the mortgage crisis, the giant companies going out of business, the government response, your 401K, your decision to get into the market or your decision to get out of the market.
It’s very confusing, isn’t it? Everyone seems to have a different opinion.
Have you been paying close attention to the news especially those sensationalized television news shows where everyone is yelling at each other? Not surprising you have a headache. Maybe a stomachache too.
What is your mind telling you? What’s your mind saying is wrong in your life? Does your mind have you comparing yourself to others? Does your mind have you criticizing yourself, criticizing what you’ve done or what your mind says you didn’t do and should have done?
What does your mind have you fearful about? If it’s not your money, your finances, what is it? Is it your body? Your health? Is your mind in turmoil over your health, maybe some health condition? Have you been going to the doctor a lot? Have you been having tests? Or, maybe you think you should be going to the doctor and having tests. Your mind gets you coming and going.
Those doctors and tests haven’t given you an answer have they? Oh, here’s another prescription try this one. Or, here’s a prescription, be sure to read the side effects and be aware it could cause a reaction.
No wonder you have a headache or stomachache. It would be surprising if you didn’t with all you have on your mind.
There’s a lot out there that can hurt you, that can cause you to get sick or get some dread disease. That’s what the news says. Too much of this food, not enough of that food, too many vitamins, too few vitamins, alkaline water, non alkaline water. It would give anyone a headache just trying to keep track of all that.
Oh, and that television. I wonder if it could be those action adventure, shoot ‘em up movies? All this input, all this stimuli, all that noise the world says you need, could it be that? Could that be causing the headaches, the stomachaches?
Does your mind spend a lot of time dragging you into the past, what you should or shouldn’t have done? Regret? Guilt? Or is it about the future? Does your mind keep you occupied with fears about the future? Or maybe planning, thinking what you should be doing, where you should go, what you should do about this and that? Does your mind constantly keep you busy thinking, thinking, thinking? No wonder you have a headache.
Does your mind have you dreading something you’re either fearful of doing or don’t want to do but you have to do? That can cause a headache.
Who are you angry at? Who has made you mad and you can’t get over it?
The purpose of all of this is not to get you into figuring out why you have a headache. On the contrary, all that figuring it out is WHY you have the headache or the stomachache.
The purpose of this is to point out what you’re doing to yourself with all that mental activity. It’s making you sick, it’s making your head ache, your stomach ache, your life ache. It’s keeping you miserable.
The answer is to do something different. Stop listening to that mind of yours. Right now your mind is saying you’ll be a zombie if you don’t listen to it. A zombie is what you are right now! You’re a zombie to all that mind noise, all that noise in your head and out there in the world.
If you’re in a boat and it’s starting to sink, wouldn’t it be a good idea to start bailing the water out? Wouldn’t it be a good idea to shut down the noisemakers in your life? Start by seeing the noise that’s giving you a headache. Stop it. Turn it off. Shut it down.
Start by seeing that you did it and you can change it. Start deleting the noise from your mental computer, deleting the mental viruses which have had your computer malfunctioning, which have had you living with headaches, stomachaches, insomnia, and all the rest of the causes of misery. You add noise to your life, including the noise coming out of your mouth, out of your shrink’s mouth, out of your pharmacist’s mouth, out of the television guy’s mouth. You’ve been adding noise a long time. Start deleting that noise. You won’t be a zombie, you’ll actually be able to start living, to start living without all the turmoil and chaos and headaches.
There is a way out. Start deleting. Start quieting your life. Start by quieting that mental noise called thinking and thinking about things.

***Avoid = Avoiding
Think about an Attachment and we may experience a nice warm-fuzzy feeling. We are of course attached to our family, our homes, our relationships, money, our beautiful stuff, and so forth. Think about an Aversion and what happens – instantly we are facing some resistance. If you are paying attention you’ll instantly notice a clutch indicating that there is something needing our attention. Larry Crane and the staff refer to “the clutch” as a pocket of negativity, ringing like a doorbell to get our attention.

***Would you like to feel good?
Pretty certain, most folks would love to feel good at all times, although many may think it’s not possible to always feel good. Ok, what’s right about feeling good? Feeling good encompasses many things… Perhaps it is working on an incredible project – getting involved – being inspired. Maybe it is a sound, like the evening rain gently caressing the window while you are sleeping. Maybe feeling good is being at your ideal weight or having a certain amount of money. And maybe, feeling good is the way life is meant to be at all times.

Anger Can Be Positive
Although uncontrolled anger can be quite costly, when channeled properly anger can also be very positive. Among other things, anger can motivate us to work harder to accomplish our goals. This could mean playing harder on the defensive end in a basketball game, studying longer for an exam, or putting in more time when learning to play an instrument. Anger can sometimes lead to newer, higher level goals, possibly fueled by the desire to prove others wrong.
