Oscillococcinum sounds like some kind of exotic bacteria, doesn't it? Actually it's a highly recommened homeopathic flu remedy. If you have the flu, you may want to give it a try. What Exactly Is Homeopathy? Here's a quick overview. The basic principle behind this type of treatment is that "like cures like." What this means is that if something causes a certain symptom in a healthy person, then that substance can be used to treat a sick person showing that symptom. For example, say that chopping up onions makes your nose and eyes run, even though you're completely healthy otherwise. Now if you get a cold, along with the symptoms of runny eyes and a runny nose, you should take an onion extract to treat those symptoms. A second idea is that you should use the smallest dose possible of a remedy. This is why these remedies are diluted so many times. Each time the remedy is diluted, it's succussed, or shaken vigorously. It's been shown that the effectiveness of the preparation increases every time it's diluted and shaken. Also, because the remedies are so dilute, they're very safe to use. What is Oscillococcinum? Also known as Anas barbariae hepatitis and Cordis extractum 200 c, this treatment for the flu is made from duck hearts and livers. According to homeopaths, these organs are reservoirs for influenza viruses. Does Homeopathy For Flu Really Work? To find out, let's turn to a tried and true source, the reviews on Amazon. This homeopathic flu treatment has 48 reviews. 31 reviewers, or nearly two-thirds, gave it five stars, the highest rating. The people who use this product recommend it without reservations. People mentioned repeatedly that when taken at the first sign of the flu, this remedy either prevented the flu entirely, or shortened its duration dramatically. A few people thought it didn't work unless you took it as soon as symptoms appeared, while others said that even if you were already sick, it helped you recover faster. Of course, there are scoffers. There were a total of 11 two- and one-star reviews, which are the lowest. It appeared that most of these people hadn't even tried the remedy, but were on the attack anyway. It's hard to take someone seriously when they have an opinion without even having tried it. Yes, it's hard to believe that something so diluted could actually have any healing effects, but most people who have tried a homeopathic treatment for flu find that it does work. If you have the flu, will it work for you? It sure doesn't hurt to give it a try.

We are adapted to survive mild exposures to radiation. After all, the sun is a kind of controlled nuclear bomb and it releases a lot of radiation. Of course, this radiation, and man-made radiation, can also cause cancer and a host of short- and long-term health problems.

"Raw Foods" is a popular phrase these days that is often misunderstood, yet represents a powerful, grass roots health movement. Some people shun the idea, not knowing what it means. Others embrace the idea, not knowing what it means. And that's no wonder, since there are many different interpretations of what it means to be on a raw food diet. Personally, I advocate a plant-based raw food diet. In other words, I suggest eating green leafy vegetables, sea vegetables, other vegetables, nuts, seeds, sprouted seeds, and fruit.
