We are all guilty of not doing the right thing at certain times in our lives. As children, we may cheat on a test at school, take a little money from our mom’s purse without asking or lie about where we were so we wouldn’t get in trouble. However, as we grow older we learn doing the right thing is not only the right thing to do but it is what God requires us to do.
2 Timothy 3:16 “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.”

God doesn’t ask us to do the right thing when we want to or in some things. He tells us to in all things, do the right thing. Determining what the right thing to do is not always easy because sometimes the right thing to do is the hardest thing to do. Sometimes we don’t believe we have the strength to do the right thing. Sometimes we don’t feel like doing the right thing.

God gives us a code to live by. He has rules and requirements for us to follow. We may not know exactly what the right thing to do is in difficult situations, but we know we can turn to Him and trust in Him to help us make the right decision. If we aren’t sure of what to do, the best thing is to call upo
Him and wait for His answer.

When we do have the answer and know what it is we should do, we have to step out in faith and do the right thing. It may be doing the right thing could end a friendship. It may be doing the right thing could hurt someone’s feelings. It may be doing the right thing could hurt a relationship; however, God doesn’t give us any gray areas. We are to always do what is right.

When we don’t feel we have the strength to do the right thing, God is always nearby to help us. We just have to take that first step of faith and He will move us to do the rest. We shouldn’t hold in something God gives us to do. We shouldn’t try to keep from doing what is His will. One step of faith can move mountains. One raised hand, in faith, parted the waters and performed many other things Moses couldn’t have done on his own.

Exodus 14:21 “Then Moses raised his hand over the sea, and the Lord opened up a path through the water with a strong east wind. The wind blew all that night, turning the seabed into dry land.”

We should never feel we don’t have what it takes to do what is right. We should never feel it is not the right time when God is telling us to take a step of faith. Opportunities to do the right things are all around us. God gives us opportunities to do the right thing every day. We should look for these opportunities and take the steps required of us knowing He will be there for us.

When we know what we are required to do, look for opportunities to do them and continue to do the right thing in our lives, God will use us in ways we can’t even imagine. We read stories in the BIble of how He worked through those who had faith in Him and did the right things. We hear of people who live in the world now who do the right things and God works through them. We are to walk humbly, love mercy and do what is good so we can truly make a difference.

Micah 6:8 “No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.”
