“It Doesn’t Cost a Thing to Smile!” : Life Coach from Spark Life Design

I was watching Oprah the other day and her guest was a musician named India Arie. She was amazing and her music really touched me. She performed a song called, “There’s Hope.” Luckily, I have Tivo and was able to listen to it 4 or 5 times because I enjoyed it so much. The song’s chorus made me think. I just love it when any form of art makes me think and helps change my life for the better. The lines go like this:nnn “There’s Hope.n It doesn’t cost a thing to smile,n You don’t have to pay to laugh,n You better thank God for that.”nnnLuckily, for you, you are reading this instead of me actually singing it for you. nn When I heard this song it clicked for me, she is absolutely right. You don’t have to pay to smile, laugh, have fun, enjoy life, and love. I don’t care if you thank God, Mohammed, Jesus, The Universe, Mother Nature, Buddha or yourself, but be grateful for this! Smiling and Laughing is a free right. It resides in all of us naturally. So, after hearing this song, smiling and I must confess dancing a little, I started to wonder…”How many other things are there in life that we can really enjoy that are free?” I started to brainstorm and came up with a pretty good start to a list.nnHere are some of the “free” fun things I came up with.nn-It doesn’t cost a thing to watch a beautiful sunset, alone or with the one you love.nn-You don’t have to pay to Snuggle.nn-It doesn’t cost a penny for a hug.nn-You can walk or hike at no cost to you.nn-You can dance for free. Boogie Down!nn-You can watch a free concert for “nada”.nn-You can chat with a good friend for “zilch”.nn-Get a library card for no money down and borrow books, magazines, CD’s, and DVD’s. You can even use their computers and internet for free, free, free! nn-Enlightenment is absolutely free, think Buddha!nn-Your family would love to go to a park or the beach for free.nn-Jump into a lake or a river for free.nn-Do Yoga on the beach, namaste for nothing!nn-Have a romantic or family picnic for free…well, ok food does cost something, but come on, you have to eat anyway. Spice up your meal for free.nn-Sing for free, in private or public. How brave are you? nnnNow it is your turn. I am challenging you, my amazing and brilliant reader, to come up with more things you and your family can do that will make you laugh and smile for free. Money stresses can overwhelm us.
