If you want to encourage positive feng shui energy in your home, good housekeeping habits are essential. After all, dirt, debris and clutter are known enemies of positive energy. Even if you live a busy lifestyle, it's still important to pay attention to your housekeeping chores on a daily basis. Fortunately, by doing just a little bit at a time, it can actually be quite easy to keep your home in tip-top shape. If you've been looking for a way to encourage more positive energy in your home, here are some cleaning routines to try.
Clean as You Go
If you live a busy life, there's a good chance that you simply don't have enough time to devote an entire weekend or even an entire afte
oon to cleaning your home. Instead of waiting until your small cleaning chores turn into much larger ones, why not adopt a "clean as you go" philosophy? By attacking your cleaning chores a few at a time, you'll be far less likely to run out of available time or become overwhelmed and discouraged. You could even create a simple cleaning schedule, breaking big jobs up into much smaller tasks.
It's also important to remember that it's probably not a good use of your valuable time to clean something that really doesn't need to be cleaned. For example, what's the use of cleaning the guest room shower walls if you haven't had ove
ight guests in months? Don't fall into the habit of never deviating from your cleaning schedule. By using common sense and reason, you'll be able to save valuable time by skipping cleaning tasks that really don't need to be done.
It can also be helpful for everyone in your household to adopt a "pick it up and take it with you" housekeeping philosophy. For example, if you're going down to the basement, why not take a basket of laundry downstairs with you? If you're heading upstairs, take a few items that need to be put away along for the ride. This simple technique can really help keep clutter from building up.
Keep it Natural
If you want to keep your home cleaning tasks more in line with your feng shui practices, focus on finding natural cleaning products that won't be detrimental to your home or family. Never use chemically based products when naturally based products will work just as effectively. Instead of using paper towels and other disposable cleaning products, invest in washable natural fiber cleaning cloths and reusable supplies.
Stop Messes Before They Start
If you want to reduce the need for using cleaning products, look for ways to prevent dirt from entering your home in the first place. Leaving your shoes at the front door is a custom that every family would do well to adopt. Not only will you prevent dirt from being tracked into your home, but it's likely that your carpets will also wear better. However, avoid the temptation to stack your shoes in a pile inside the front door. Just as is the case with other forms of entryway clutter, a stack of shoes can serve to keep positive energy from flowing through the doorway. Instead, a well-designed rack that will keep your shoes off of the floor can be a worthwhile investment. While you're at it, provide racks, hangers or shelves for other items commonly piled up in your home's entryway, such as keys, coats, purses and mail.
