When last did you look forward to getting up for work in the morning? Better still, when last did you not experience that knot in your stomach on a Sunday evening as you began to dread the Monday grindstone?

Is it just me or do you get the feeling that something is wrong with this picture?

Many of us have been brought up to believe that work is not meant to be fun. It’s a place to earn a living to support your family. Fulfillment… what fulfillment? Rub the sleep out of your eyes and wake up! Or at least that’s what our grandparents would have drummed down our throats.

Times have changed though. We realise that life is short and we want to make the most of the time we have, every minute of the day. So where do we go from here?

Get ready for change! You’re going to learn to live your best life, NOW!

Career Development Coach, Helen Roberts, believes that the success of career coaching is founded on a change of mindset. “Career and life coaching is all about discovering one’s unique purpose. To achieve this, one needs to identify priorities and seek career choices that help them to find balance while at the same time attain their goals.”

Career coaching experts take stock of your current situation, and weigh it up against your dreams and aspirations, and most importantly what will make you feel fulfilled as a human being.

In order for them to learn how you tick, they deal with significant issues in your life so that you can effectively face up to the misplaced thought processes that originally created this career crossroads in your life.

Have you ever felt that you’ve been doing the same things day in and day out, either because that was what you were told to do or because that was expected of you? And in all that time, you lost sight of yourself. You failed to check in with you and what makes you happy.

A career coach in essence then is a guide to help you discover the inner-person trapped inside, that little voice inside your head getting louder and louder, the one you lost track of a long time ago.

Are you having a hard time finding your passion? Many of my career coaching clients wrestle with this. It was hard for me too. This month though I discovered a new way for my career coaching clients to find their passion. Although the circumstances are not what I would wish for anyone, everyone has tough times at some time in their lives so this might work for you too.
