Sheets and blankets and cases, oh no; as we approach the haunted holiday now is the time to take a gander in your linen closet/drawers; is it enough to scare the pants off Martha Stewart? How are your layers upon layers of folded bed sheets looking? Are they concealed from everyone’s view for a reason? Are there assortments of pillow covers that cower at the notion of being shown in public? How about bedspreads from the age of the Rubik’s Cube that are taking up space and not earning their keep? It’s time to oust the frightful fabrics that have taken refuge in your storage area and banish them from your shelves/drawers once and for all.

Today’s organizational task is to gain order in your linen area; dismiss worn out, weathered, saddening sheets, towels, pillowcases and blankets. Don’t forget that many animal shelters adore gently used bedding and towels for their animal care duties. Shabby wares also make great dust rags, garage towels and cleaning cloths. There is usually always a way to reuse such discards so don’t waste an opportunity to recycle your sheds and put them to good use. Here we go:

~Completely empty your linen closet shelves/drawers; put the contents aside. ~Wipe down the region from top to bottom & vacuum out the area to remove any leftover debris. ~Replace or mend any components of your storage facility that need some TLC. ~Designate a precise area for a specific item; label that area if you choose. ~Sort through your pile of linens and categorize them into like groups. ~Put back each grouping of items into their exact place of designation. As you do this be sure to check out the items condition and worthiness of its return to your storage area. ~Any item that is shabby, majorly discolored, holey, stained or ripped needs to go to another home other than your linen location. ~Once all your topnotch articles are returned to their rightful home you can step aside and admire the beautiful job that you accomplished. ~Last, but not least, don’t forget to put everything in its place. Be sure to take care of the discarded items that didn’t find their way back into the linen zone.

Being organized in all areas of your life allows you to focus your energy more precisely on you.
