So, you found a vacancy that you want to apply for. That is fabulous. You are so many steps nearer to your dream job now. Time to make the all important application!

However you found out about the role will normally also tell you how to do this. Companies might ask for you to send your CV via email or post it online through their website. Agencies the same. A headhunter might want to work with you to write your CV so that it is tailored to this role and this company. Your friend might want to take it into their boss. Whichever way you are going to do this one thing remains the same. This is your only chance to make a first impression. Your objective at this stage is to get an interview. So how are you going to do that?

Start by spending time on the company's website. Get a feeling for what they are like as an organisation. Then review what you know about the role. What have you got to offer and why will they want to hire you over any other candidate? These are all crucial things to include in your application. Write some notes of things you want to let the Company know which you believe will inspire them to interview you.
