Good choices; we all have the power to make the right decision to support our goals. We all hold the clout and influence to make a difference in our lives and we are the one who can take action to reap the rewards. When you set out to attain a dream, you must put everything in alignment to make that dream become a reality.
The same is true about the kind of foods that you allow to grace the shelves of your pantry or the items that take up space in your refrigerator. Chances are that you are the one in your home, for the majority of the time, who plans for, shops for and prepares the meals in your home. You compose the grocery list, you push the shopping trolley and you purchase the groceries. You have complete power over what items you allow to come through the front door of your home. Wow, that’s pretty powerful when you break it all down and realize not only do you affect yourself through your purchases, but you also somewhat dictate what the members in your home have access to.
So let’s really think about it…what do you house on your shelves? What healthy, nutritious options are available and how do these provisions support your goals? Your shelves should be filled with the following fabulous food options for you and your family to choose from:
~Whole wheat products should be your ultimate goal: whole wheat breads, pastas, rice, cereals and crackers are all potential options. Be sure to check the ingredients when purchasing these items, the first or second ingredient should state 100% whole wheat. As with anything else, there are many impostors out there that bid for your money with confusing advertising scams. ~Fresh vegetables and fruits are an imperative item in your daily food array. Choosing fruits and veggies that are in season keeps the cost down and ensures a crisp, timely taste. Fresh is best, but if this not possible canned or frozen are better than none at all. Just be careful of added sugar and salt. ~Dairy is a terrific addition to any woman’s daily food menu. Be sure to choose low-fat options when selecting milk, yogurt and cheeses. Dairy products build strong bones and ward off osteoporosis. ~Meats & beans keep your tummy feeling fuller. Meat cuts should be lean and skin-free.
It’s up to you to make it happen and it’s up to you to support your goals. Plan to prevail today!
