Meditation for Positive Thinkingr
This is a short, easy to follow meditation for positive thinking that can help you to re-programme your mind to focus on the good things in life and in turn attract more of those things to you.
Our minds are constantly bombarded by thoughts, experiences, emotions, etc. and because our mind acts as our inbuilt threat protection it is common for our minds to focus on negative thoughts and experiences in the hope of alerting us and preventing future negative events. This however can lead to overthinking and dwelling in the negative and attracting more of what we don’t want into our lives.
This short mediation can help balance things out and bring you the more of the good stuff!
Meditation for Positive Thinking-
-Prepare for the meditation- You can burn incense, play music, anything that you find helps you. Make sure you will not be disturbed for a short while.
-Make sure you are warm and in a comfortable position, this can be sitting or laying down.
-When you are ready focus on your breathing and begin to breathe slowly and easily, feeling any cares or worries draining away with each outward breath.
-Allow yourself to be in this pleasant state for a little while, just focusing on the breath, relaxing and letting go. There is no rush.
-Bring your attention to your third eye chakra, situated in the middle of your forehead, just allow your attention to sit there.
-If other thoughts come into your mind, allow them to pass through, without giving them focus. Let yourself come to a place of peace.
-Now, ask the question, “What is good in my life today?”
-Each time you practise this mediation you will get a different answer, this actually helps make it more interesting to practise!
-Whatever answer you find, just focus on it, explore it. For example, if your answer was, “I am healthy.” Focus on what that means to you; being able to move about, breathe freely, drive your car, dance, sing, run, etc. As you focus on each of the things that your healthy body enables you to do feel gratitude in your heart for your health.
-You may find that you practise this for a few minutes or you may find that you focus on several positive things and the practise takes a while longer, either way, stay in this state for as long as you feel comfortable and are able to focus.
-When you feel ready allow your mind to come back to yourself in the room, breathe easily, gently move your arms and legs, have a stretch if you wish, then bring your hands into Gassho position (prayer position with your thumbs against your heart chakra) and say “Thank you”
-Have a glass of water and continue with your day.
This is a simple but very effective meditation to try and can have amazing benefits to help balance out positive and negative thought processes and also help you attract more positive things into your life.
